Michigan football director of on-campus recruiting joins Jim Harbaugh in NFL

Best of luck to her! #GoBlue

With Jim Harbaugh gone and Sherrone Moore in, the Michigan football recruiting department is undergoing changes.

On Sunday, Moore hired seven analysts, presumably on the recruiting side. But a face that has graced the sidelines in Ann Arbor is apparently moving on to the professional ranks.

The Wolverines former director of on-campus recruiting, Christina DeRuyter, had been a staple of Michigan’s recruiting efforts since she joined the program in 2021.

Her role changed after Moore took over. Kayli Johnson, who previously worked at Michigan State, took over the director of on-campus recruiting role. Johnson is the sister of Michigan cornerback Will Johnson.

Though it had appeared DeRuyter would transition into a different position within the program, she announced on social media on Monday that she’s departing the program and joining Jim Harbaugh with the Los Angeles Chargers.

DeRuyter is the daughter of Texas Tech defensive coordinator Tim DeRuyter.

Though DeRuyter is gone, here are the seven analysts Moore announced the hire of on Sunday:

  • Aidan Young – recruiting analyst, Oregon alumnus
  • Richard Perry – defensive back recruiting analyst
  • Reid Kuhl – recruiting analyst, Michigan alumnus
  • Preston Sagan – recruiting analyst, Clemson alumnus
  • Jacob Weber – recruiting analyst, Indiana alumnus
  • Jacob Sakk – recruiting analyst
  • Jack Turner – recruiting

Michigan also lost Denard Robinson, who was in the recruiting department, after he was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated. He was suspended and later revealed to no longer be a part of the program.

But the recruiting department is growing and spearheaded by new director of recruiting Sam Popper, who was on staff last year after holding positions at Oregon and Akron.
