Traffic stop video of Patriots’ Christian Barmore released by Providence police

Providence police video shows what happened during a traffic stop of the Patriots’ Christian Barmore

The Providence (R.I.) police department released video of the traffic stop by its officers of New England Patriots player Christian Barmore.

The defensive tackle was stopped early in the morning on Oct. 16. The video shows an upset Barmore and the police engaged in a verbal confrontation.

“The vehicle had window tint all around and had a plate cover on the temporary registration causing issues on reading the information,” the police report said.

Authorities saw a temporary registration number with an unknown state.

“We then activated our overhead lights signaling for it to stop,” the report read. “It should be noted that the operator of the vehicle then ‘slow rolled’ from Elmwood Ave and Bridgham St to then coming to a complete stop in front of 343 Broad St. This tactic is known to police by slowing down an interaction with police to hide any contraband or weapons. It should also be noted that the area is known for high narcotic usage.”

WHDH reported the vehicle was towed and Barmore was issued a summons for operation of an unregistered vehicle, display of plates violation, and driving with an expired registration.

“Due to Barmore belligerent behavior and not wanting to stay on scene we left his summons in the vehicle along with his license and documents,” the police report said. “It should be noted that the VIN was ran VIA Channel 4 and came back with an expired registration out of Maine to a different name.”

A statement from the Providence Police Department was released regarding the traffic stop.

“The Providence Police Department takes all concerns from the public very seriously and with the utmost professionalism. In this particular case, the vehicle in question was found to be unregistered during a routine traffic stop, which is a violation of the law. The officer acted in full compliance with department protocols and state regulations. We understand that any encounter with law enforcement can be stressful, however, it’s important to note that officers are required to enforce all applicable laws, including those related to vehicle registration. We will continue to review the situation to ensure that proper procedures were followed and to maintain transparency with the public.”

Patriots reportedly bracing for worst-case scenario with Christian Barmore

The Patriots are preparing for the worst possible scenario

The New England Patriots are preparing for the possibility that defensive tackle Christian Barmore could miss the entire 2024 season, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

After receiving the biggest non-Tom Brady contract in franchise history, Barmore was diagnosed with blood clots and sidelined indefinitely. The team is obviously viewing his health situation through a long-term scope given the serious nature of it.

They’d happily welcome him back if he’s ready to return this season, but they aren’t pushing for a return. They’re preparing for the worst-case scenario with their best defensive player.

Fowler wrote:

The Patriots are bracing for the possibility that defensive tackle Christian Barmore, who’s on Reserve/Non-Football Injury list while being treated for blood clots, won’t play this season. New England doesn’t want to rush his recovery by any stretch. If he makes it back, great. But the team won’t push it. He’s a long-term asset.

Barmore’s health is obviously more important than football, and the team is taking this situation very seriously.

Replacing Barmore along the defensive front will be a daunting task for Patriots coach Jerod Mayo. There is no one player capable of replacing that kind of talent. It’ll take multiple players to step up along the defensive front to give the unit a fighting chance.

Patriots announce seven injury moves ahead of roster cut deadline

This is potentially good news for DT Christian Barmore

The New England Patriots made multiple injury transactions ahead of Tuesday’s 53-man roster deadline.

They placed wide receiver Kendrick Bourne, guard Cole Strange and linebacker Sione Takitaki on the reserve/physically unable to perform list. Defensive tackle Christian Barmore was placed on the reserve/non-football injury list.

Linebacker Marte Mapu, defensive tackle Armon Watts and offensive tackle Calvin Anderson were placed on injured reserve.

Barmore and Mapu are both designated for returns. So the Patriots defense could be getting a huge lift down the road with the two players potentially coming back.

This is a positive sign for Barmore in particular considering he’s out indefinitely after being diagnosed with blood clots. There is no clear timetable for his eventual return, but this latest designation leaves the door open for him to return this season.

That’s great news for a Patriots defense that heavily depends on his presence up front to win in the trenches.

Patriots DT Christian Barmore posts message after blood clot diagnosis

Christian Barmore sends a message on social media

New England Patriots defensive tackle Christian Barmore posted a message on social media on Sunday, following the news that he is out indefinitely after being diagnosed with blood clots.

Per a statement released by the Patriots, Barmore was tested, evaluated and treated for the blood clots at Mass General Brigham. Now, he’s shifting his focus towards recovering and eventually rejoining his teammates on the football field.

The Patriots opened training camp last week, and they’ll surely miss Barmore if he’s out for an extended period of time.

“Thank you everyone for all the support, thoughts, and prayers. I’ll be back soon,” Barmore posted in an Instagram story.

Barmore’s agent, Nicole Lynn, thanked Patriots trainer Jim Whalen for his “expertise” on the situation.

“I would be remiss if I did not thank the Patriots’ trainer, Jim Whalen, for his absolute diligence and care over the last couple of days. Today could have looked a lot different without Jim’s persistent and expertise,” Lynn posted on X.

An even scarier situation was likely avoided in this outcome, and that’s something everyone can be thankful for.

Per the Patriots’ statement, there is no timetable for Barmore’s return. The primary focus right now is his health and well-being.

The Patriots started training camp last week. Not having Barmore on the field for any length of time would be a major loss. He’s one of the best players on the team and a powerful first line of defense along the front.

This news shed more light on the Josiah Bronson signing. The Patriots used one of their two open roster spots to add more defensive tackle depth with Barmore on the shelf.

It’s now down to Davon Godchaux, Daniel Ekuale, Jeremiah Pharms Jr., Armon Watts, Trysten Hill and Bronson to do whatever they can to make up for Barmore’s absence.

Patriots release a statement on Christian Barmore’s health

The New England Patriots released a statement on Sunday regarding the health of defensive tackle Christian Barmore.

Per the statement, Barmore was diagnosed with blood clots over the weekend, and there is no current timetable for his return. The Patriots are currently in training camp, but their primary concern right now is Barmore’s health.

The statement read:

“Over the weekend, Christian Barmore was diagnosed with blood clots. He was appropriately treated by the doctors at Mass General Brigham, who tested, evaluated and treated Christian.

Our principle concern at this time is Christian’s health and wellbeing. Fortunately, Mass General Brigham provides some of the best healthcare in the world.

While there is no current timetable for his return, Christian is getting tremendous care and we look forward to his full recovery.”

Barmore had a stellar 2023 season, which earned him the biggest non-Tom Brady contract in the Patriots’ franchise history.

He is one of the team’s best players, and his presence on the field will be greatly missed for as long as he’s out. With that said, there are things bigger than football.

The hope now is for Barmore to make a full recovery and return with a clean bill of health.

Patriots’ DT Christian Barmore hospitalized with blood clots

Christian Barmore of the Patriots will be out for unspecified time due to blood clots

Scary news out of New England Patriots training camp. Defensive lineman Christian Barmore was hospitalized due to blood clots, the team reported on Sunday.

In 2019, David Andrews was diagnosed with blood clots in 2019 and missed the entire season.

Barmore signed a four-year, $84 million contract extension with the Patriots on April 30, 2024.

He had a career-high 8.5 sacks last season.

Patriots DT Christian Barmore’s simple response to top-10 ranking snub

Christian Barmore is keeping receipts

New England Patriots defensive lineman Christian Barmore is keeping receipts after being snubbed in ESPN’s recent top-10 defensive tackle rankings.

The rankings were compiled by ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler from the votes of executives, coaches and scouts. Barmore did receive an honorable mention, but he was not included in the top 10.

This snub comes on the heels of a career-season where Barmore dominated on the defensive front with 64 tackles, 8.5 sacks, six pass deflections and one forced fumble.

That performance netted him a four-year deal worth upwards of $92 million, which is the largest non-Tom Brady contract in franchise history. The 24-year-old standout defender had a simple response to the defensive tackle rankings.

One NFC scout compared Barmore’s game to Kansas City Chiefs defensive star Chris Jones, who was ranked No. 1 on the list.

“A run-stopper with sack production and big upside. Can rush from the inside. Has some Chris Jones to him,” the NFC scout said, via Fowler.

That comparison could come back to haunt anyone who overlooked Barmore on this list.

Patriots defender Christian Barmore mentioned in ESPN’s top-10 DT list

Christian Barmore earned an honorable mention in the latest top-10 DT rankings

New England Patriots defensive tackle Christian Barmore didn’t crack ESPN’s recent top-10 list for NFL defensive tackles. It was a list compiled from the opinions of league executives, coaches and scouts.

However, Barmore did receive an honorable mention.

The veteran defensive lineman recorded 64 combined tackles and 8.5 sacks last season. He came into his own as a pass-rusher and a run-stopper for the Patriots.

The Alabama product was selected in the second round of the 2021 NFL draft, and he has been a mainstay on the Patriots’ defensive line ever since.

Barmore was rewarded with a massive contract extension in the offseason with the Patriots looking to keep him as a key piece for their defense.

“A run-stopper with sack production and big upside. Can rush from the inside. Has some Chris Jones to him,” an NFC scout said regarding Barmore, per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

Barmore’s continued development and upward trajectory will be important for the Patriots defensive line. Patriots fans can only hope the Chris Jones comparison ends up being accurate.
