Bears QB Justin Fields suffered a dislocated left shoulder

According to Ian Rapoport, Justin Fields suffered a dislocated shoulder in the Bears’ loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.

Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields’ shoulder injury has been revealed. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the signal caller suffered a dislocated shoulder during Sunday’s 27-24 loss against the Atlanta Falcons.

Fields played the entire game on Sunday, but left the locker room on a cart to get his shoulder examined when the game ended. On Monday, head coach Matt Eberflus indicated Fields was day-to-day, though he wouldn’t speculate on the quarterback’s availability for their Week 12 matchup against the New York Jets.

Other quarterbacks who have suffered a dislocated shoulder on their non-throwing arm have missed time in recent years, notably Baker Mayfield with the Cleveland Browns in 2021 and Mitchell Trubisky with the Bears in 2019. Both players missed at least one week while recovering from their injuries.

Fields’ status will be updated later in the week when injury reports are released.

5 Bold predictions for Bears vs. Falcons

Justin Fields will once again run for over 100 yards and throw for two TDs. That and more in our bold predictions for Bears vs. Falcons.

The Chicago Bears travel south to take on the Atlanta Falcons for their Week 11 matchup. The Bears (3-7) are looking to snap a three-game losing streak despite scoring more than 29 points in each of their losses. The Falcons (4-6) are also riding a losing streak, but are still within striking distance of the division lead and look to get back on track.

Both teams have similar tendencies this season, given they have an excellent running game, so-so defense, and an ability to fall apart in the fourth quarter. But this game will be a reunion for many involved, considering former Bears players, coaches, and front office personnel are with the Falcons and will be facing their former team for the first time.

Perhaps they’ll be treated to another dazzling show from Justin Fields, who continues to set the league on fire with his historic performances. Is another one on the table when he returns to his home state for the first time as a pro? Here are our bold predictions ahead of Bears vs. Falcons.

NFL Week 11 parlay: Let’s make some money

NFL Week 11: Let’s make some money parlay

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Thursday at 3:30 p.m. ET. All games Sunday and ET unless noted.

Leg 1: Panthers at Ravens OVER 42 (-110) – 1 p.m. (FOX)

While I wanted to take the Ravens here, I think the -12 is just a bit too high of a risk. Instead, I will go with the total of 42 which is a few points too low.

The Panthers are not good. But the Ravens defense has been anything but shut down this season. Even with the struggles facing the Panthers, they should be able to get to 20 in this game.

While the Ravens are 6-3, they have led every game this season by a minimum of 10 points at 1 point or another. They will do so again here, and they should win by such a margin. With reports of TE Mark Andrews practicing and coming back for this game, Lamar Jackson will have his most trusted receiver and he will be able to throw to him as well as run the ball against this weak Panthers defense.

Saying this and thinking the Panthers, under QB Baker Mayfield should get to 20, I see the Ravens hitting 30 and easily going over this total of 42.

Leg 2: BEARS +3.5 (-119) at Falcons – 1 p.m. (FOX)

The Falcons, after going 5-0 against the spread (ATS) to start the season, have failed to cover in their last 5 games. This game will make it 6.

The Bears have scored at least 29 points in 3 straight games. They have become the only team in history to do so while losing all 3 games. The offense, and especially Justin Fields, is finally coming together. After 178 yards rushing against the Miami Dolphins, Fields had 147 against the Detroit Lions. He will be able to run again against a Falcons defense who allows both run plays and pass plays in bunches.

Although the records do not show it, the Bears have been playing better than the Falcons of late. The offense will continue to thrive while the defense will do just enough to get by in this matchup. As +3.5-point underdogs, I like the Bears to cover and win. But for the purposes of better chances of winning my parlay, I will take the points being given by the book. Give me the Bears +3.5 (-119) for the 2nd leg of my parlay.

Leg 3: BENGALS -4 (-107) at Steelers – 4:25 p.m. (CBS)

This makes me a bit nervous. T.J. Watt is back and the defense for Pittsburgh shut out New Orleans in the 2nd half last week. But the Bengals are not the Saints, and it will be far more difficult to shut down the likes of Joe Mixon and Joe Burrow.

While Ja’Marr Chase is still out, the Bengals still have WRs Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd to catch passes as well as TE Hayden Hurst, who will be valuable against a Steelers defense tryingt to get to Burrow early and often.

The Steelers offense, bad at its best of times, got even worse with the departure of Chase Claypool to Chicago. Opposing defenses can focus more on Diontae Johnson. Najee Harris has not had the breakout season many in the fantasy community thought was coming in 2022. This makes Pittsburgh a 1-dimensional offense and that dimension is not a solid 1.

Although these games are usually close, I will take my chances that Cincinnati can do enough to win by 4 and take the Bengals -4 (-111) to finish my parlay.

Parlay payout: Bet $10 to win $65.90 (profit $55.90).

Leg 4-*: COWBOYS -2 (-110) at Vikings – 4:25 p.m. (CBS)

*-If you want to add a 4th play to this parlay:

The Vikings have been playing with fool’s gold this season. Four of their victories have been against teams starting backup quarterbacks and one other game, last Sunday, against an ailing Josh Allen.

With Dak Prescott back and healthy for Dallas, the Vikings luck could end.

The Dallas defense with Micah Parsons is flying high this season. It has been able to stop the run and slow down the pass game of opponents. Justin Jefferson is great, but with Dallas being able to limit Dalvin Cook, Jefferson can not do it by himself, and Dallas will be able to come into Minnesota and walk out victorious.

Parlay payout: Bet $10 to win $125.80 (profit $115.80).

*-If you want to substitute one of the above, here’s another option:

Commanders at TEXANS (+145) – 1 p.m. (FOX)

Washington comes into this game off a high after handing Philadelphia its 1st loss of the season. This will be a classic letdown spot for a team and Houston could pounce on it. This is a risky wager, which is why it is only an optional play. But with Houton looking to gain a 2nd victory of the season, this could be its best chance to do so against an overhyped Washington team on a short week.

In Week 10 last week, NFL underdogs had a pretty good run. Seven outright underdogs on the moneyline in 14 games, with big upsets like the Washington Commanders upending the Philadelphia Eagles, the Minnesota Vikings knocking off the Buffalo Bills and Green Bay Packers defeating the Dallas Cowboys. Eight underdogs beat the spread in Week 10.

Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s NFL odds and lines, and tab the best NFL Week 11 underdog bets to cash in on among SportbookWire’s NFL expert picks and predictions.

As for my 3 best bets for the Week 10, only 1 hit — the Commanders covering the spread against the Eagles — leaving me at 13-17 on my underdog picks for the week.

CHICAGO BEARS +3.5 (-119) at Atlanta Falcons – 1 p.m. (FOX)

The Bears have lost 3 straight and 6 of their last 7 games, but they have come close, losing by 1 point to the Detroit Lions and 3 points to the Miami Dolphins. QB Justin Fields has thrown 7 TD passes in the last 3 games and rushed for 385 yards.

The Falcons have failed to cover the spread in 4 straight games. They have had fewer than 300 yards of offense in 4 of their last 6 games.

Kansas City Chiefs at LOS ANGELES CHARGERS +6 (-111) – 8:20 p.m (NBC)

Only 1 of the last 5 matchups between the 2 teams has resulted in the Chiefs winning by 6 or more points.

The Chiefs are only 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 games.

The Chargers have covered the spread in 2 straight games and in 4 of their last 6 games.

LAS VEGAS RAIDERS (+125) at Denver Broncos – 4:05 p.m. (FOX)

The Raiders won the 1st meeting between the 2 teams this season 32-23 in Las Vegas.

The problem for the Raiders this season has been defense. They can score but have been allowing too many points (25.3 per game). Denver’s offense is anemic, averaging 14.6 points per game, and has reached 20 points only twice all season and once in their last 4 games.

The Raiders have scored 20 or more in 7 of 9 games this season.

Bears keeping Ryan Pace for an extra year was a blessing in disguise

Many wanted Ryan Pace gone after the 2020 season. Had that happened, there’s almost no way Justin Fields is a Chicago Bear.

It’s been about 10 months since the Chicago Bears parted ways with general manager Ryan Pace after a disastrous 2021 season. Hired by the Bears in in 2015, Pace took the team to its first division title three years later by building a staunch defense and pushing his chips in on quarterback Mitchell Trubisky and head coach Matt Nagy.

The success didn’t last however and the talented roster became old and expensive quickly while the quarterback position suffered. Despite mounting pressure from the outside to make a change following an uneven 2020 season, the Bears opted to stick with Pace and Nagy for one more season.

That faith led to a massive trade during the 2021 NFL draft with the Bears moving up to select Justin Fields as their new future franchise quarterback. Pace would only get one season with him, however, as he was fired following Fields’ rookie year.

Now with the Atlanta Falcons as a senior executive, Pace will meet back up with the Bears when the two teams face off this weekend. His former team will look much different than it did even a year ago with many of his players already gone. The bad contracts that resulted in millions of dollars in dead cap space are still there, however, as the Bears were forced to deal with the decisions Pace made to extend his win-now window.

Knowing now that Pace couldn’t turn things around in 2021, one can argue he should have been let go earlier and the Bears’ rebuild would be two years down the road instead of one. But Bears fans should be thanking their lucky stars that didn’t happen and Pace was allowed to hang on for one more season. He may have given the Bears their best quarterback in team history.

5 Falcons players to watch vs. the Bears

Here are the Falcons players we’ll be watching for when they face the Bears this weekend.

It will be a reunion of sorts for these two teams. Many former Bears players, coaches, and even front office members are now with the Falcons, including a couple starters. See which former Bears are worth keeping an eye on this weekend as we pick out five Falcons players to watch when these teams meet up.

Allen Robinson was a bit surprised the Bears turned to Nick Foles

When Matt Nagy made the decision to bench starting QB Mitchell Trubisky in favor of backup Nick Foles, it shocked even Allen Robinson.

When Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy made the decision to bench starting quarterback Mitchell Trubisky in favor of backup Nick Foles during yesterday’s 30-26 win against the Atlanta Falcons, many fans were caught off guard, considering Trubisky had played relatively well through the first two games.

It turns out his teammates didn’t necessarily see the move coming either.

Receiver Allen Robinson, speaking to Bears Wire ahead of his Within Reach Foundation’s “An Evening Within Reach” Gala taking place October 19, was asked if he was surprised Foles entered the game.

“Yeah, I kind of was,” Robinson said. “I wouldn’t say shocked, you never know what’s going to happen in the course of a game. We had training camp with both quarterbacks so we have experience with both of those guys and at the end of the day, coach did what he thought was best for the team.”

The Pro-Bowl wideout, who caught 10 passes for 123 yards and a score, also said he didn’t really have time to react to the switch.

“Everything happened so quickly,” Robinson said. “By the time Nick was put into the game, we had already gone over the plays and things like that so now it’s going out there and executing.”

Robinson did just that, catching four passes for 54 yards and a score all in the fourth quarter. He may have had some extra motivation thanks to his overturned touchdown in the third quarter.

On the Bears’ first possession with Foles in at quarterback, Robinson caught a touchdown on a fade route simultaneously with Atlanta Falcons defensive back Darqueze Dennard, with Dennard coming up with the ball on the ground. The initial ruling by the officials was a touchdown, but was quickly overturned after further review. Robinson said that call fueled him for the rest of the game.

“It did [light a fire in me],” he said. “For me, I always want to go out there and be as much of an impact to my team as possible. When you get plays like that called back, as frustrating as they may be. You know you have to bounce back and continue to make more plays to hopefully lead to a victory, which I was able to do.”

The Bears won’t be caught off guard moving forward now that Foles is officially the team’s starter. It should also mean more good outings for Robinson and his teammates, who look to continue their hot start against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.

Tickets for Robinson’s “An Evening Within Reach” gala are now on sale and proceeds will benefit the Within Reach Foundation, whose mission is to provide educational resources to low-income and inner-city Chicago students. Visit www.allenrobinson12.org for more details.

Instant analysis of Bears’ 30-26 victory over the Falcons in Week 3

The Chicago Bears scored 20 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to defeat the Atlanta Falcons 30-26 and remain undefeated at 3-0.

Well, once again, it was a roller coaster game for the Chicago Bears as nothing was going right. Throughout most of the game, the offense struggled and the defense couldn’t stop the Falcons offense. But the Falcons did what they did best: they blew another lead.

Even though the Bears couldn’t get anything going, the big news coming from the game was Nick Foles entered the game in the third quarter to replace Mitchell Trubisky. The replacement came after a Trubisky interception in Falcons territory. Then the game changed.

Trubisky finished 13-for-21 for 128 yards, but when Foles entered the game he drove the Bears down the field and threw an interception in the endzone. But, believe it not, the Bears would flip the script.

Foles would lead the Bears offense to 20 unanswered points in the fourth quarter and the Bears defense shut down the Falcons as they go onto stay undefeated. Foles would finish the game 16-of-29 with 188 yards and three touchdowns.

This likely will end the Trubisky era in Chicago as Foles has full control of the starting quarterback job. Foles and the Bears will now have to get ready for an AFC matchup with the Indianapolis Colts.

Twitter reacts to Nick Foles replacing Mitchell Trubisky

Nick Foles replaced Mitchell Trubisky at quarterback midway through the third quarter, and Twitter had a lot to say about it.

After the Chicago Bears fell behind the Atlanta Falcons 26-10 midway through the third quarter, head coach Matt Nagy decided he needed to make a change at the quarterback position, benching Mitchell Trubisky in favor of backup Nick Foles.

Foles, who was acquired in a trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars this offseason, saw his first action as a Bear and Twitter had a lot to say about the switch.

Bears OLB Khalil Mack, DE Mario Edwards Jr. questionable vs. Falcons

The Bears released their injury report ahead of Sunday’s game against the Falcons and Khalil Mack and Mario Edwards Jr. are questionable.

The Chicago Bears released their final injury report ahead of Sunday’s Week 3 contest against the Atlanta Falcons, and it’s certainly encouraging when compared to the Falcons.

Outside linebacker Khalil Mack and defensive end Mario Edwards Jr. are questionable for Sunday’s game.

Mack has been nursing a knee injury since the start of the season, where he’s been limited in practice throughout the start of the season. While Mack’s designation has been questionable, he’s played in both games and it should be the same against Atlanta.

While the Bears injury report is cluttered with names, nothing of significance has been noted. Receivers Allen Robinson (knee), Anthony Miller (calf) and Darnell Mooney (quad), as well as edge rusher Robert Quinn (ankle) and a number of others have practiced in full this week and don’t have a designation.

The Falcons are not as lucky. They have five players listed as questionable for Sunday, including star receiver Julio Jones, pass rushers Dante Fowler Jr. and Foye Oluokun and right tackle Kaleb McGary.
