We are just a few weeks away from the highly entertaining winner-take-a-boatload of cash event called The Basketball Tournament. And with it, you’ll be able to see your favorite Ohio State basketball alumni squad better known as “Carmen’s Crew.”
We already know the schedule, venue, and most of the roster makeup so close to all the fun tipping off, but today Carmen’s Crew announced another addition to the roster, former Buckeye basketball player Kosta Koufos.
Koufus was expected to do big things in Columbus. He was a five-star prospect that was part a No. 4 ranked recruiting class in 2007 according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He was joined by the likes of Jon Diebler and Evan Turner in the class.
But things didn’t quite go according to plan for the team during the 2007-2008 season. Koufos was productive enough — averaging 14.4 points, 6.7 rebounds, and a 50.8 field goal percentage — but the team failed to make the NCAA Tournament and instead settled for the NIT where it made a run all the way to the title.

And that would be the only year we got to see Koufus in the scarlet and gray. He would enter his name in the 2008 NBA draft and wind up being selected by the Utah Jazz as the No. 23 overall pick in the first round.
Since then, Koufos has bounced around quite a bit. He’s seen some time in the NBA with the Jazz, Denver Nuggets, Memphis Grizzlies, and Sacramento Kings, but never really caught on consistently. He most recently played for CSKA Moscow during the 2019-2020 seasons.
Now, he’ll be a part of another run for all the money with Carmen’s Crew.
