LeBron James denies report that Oregon is the favorite to recruit Bronny

James took to Twitter on Tuesday night to deny the report.

LeBron James is still going strong after 19 years in the NBA. Last season, he averaged over 30 points, eight rebounds and six assists per game and posted a 26.2 Player Efficiency Rating, ranking fourth-highest in the league.

While he’s playing better than any 37-year-old ever has, no one can perform at this level forever. James has made it clear that one thing he wants to do before he retires: Play on the same team as his son Bronny, who is 17. That’s still a ways off, as Bronny isn’t expected to make the same jump from high school straight to the NBA the way his dad did back in 2003.

However, he is one of the top shooting guards in the country – ranked No. 8 at his position and No. 49 nationally according to 247Sports.

Bronny (6-foot-3, 190 pounds) is one of the most highly-sought recruits of the 2023 class and the competition to get his commitment will be fierce. Despite a recent report that Oregon has emerged as the favorite, LeBron is saying that’s not the case. James took to Twitter on Tuesday night to deny the report, saying Bronny hasn’t made one visit yet and when he makes his choice, we’ll hear it from him.

As for LeBron’s own future, the latest reporting suggests he will sign with the Lakers for another season plus a player option for one more year.

LeBron James makes clarifying statement on college recruitment of son Bronny

After a prediction came out for the Oregon Ducks to land 4-star Bronny James, LeBron James Sr. took to Twitter to set the record straight.

The past few days in the world of college basketball recruiting have been a whirlwind for the Oregon Ducks.

Dana Altman landed five-star small forward Mookie Cook, the No. 4 player in the 2023 class on Friday. Then news came out that four-star shooting guard Bronny James, the son of legendary NBA player LeBron James, was being recruited by the Ducks.

On top of that, an expert prediction came out on Tuesday that suggested that Oregon is the team to beat to get a commitment from James, who ranks as the No. 47 player in the 2023 class.

On Tuesday night, LeBron James took to Twitter to offer a clarifying statement on all of the action involving his son taking place.

LeBron’s words didn’t contradict the report that Oregon is the team to beat for Bronny, but it encouraged some patience if nothing else.

“He hasn’t taken 1 visit yet and has only had a few calls with coaches and universities.”

When Bronny does start taking visits, you can guarantee it’s going to be newsworthy. There’s also a good chance that one of his visits is to Eugene to check out the Oregon Ducks and Nike University.

A look at where the sons of NBA legends have gone to college

Bronny James may end up joining the Oregon Ducks in 2023, prompting us to ask: where did the sons of NBA legends end up in the past?

Bronny James, a four-star recruit and the son of NBA superstar LeBron James, is very possibly going to become an Oregon Duck in the 2023-24 season, according to On3. On Tuesday afternoon, the Ducks picked up an expert prediction to land the eldest James son.

It would be an incredible addition to an already excellent recruiting class for Dana Altman, and James would make the Ducks THE must-watch college basketball team in the nation.

LeBron famously went straight to the NBA out of high school, leaving Bronny without the option of following in his footsteps unless he goes to the G League. Bronny will be far from the first son to diverge from his father’s path at the collegiate level — often because they are not good enough (Michael Jordan’s kids) or, in some cases, because their dad didn’t go anywhere special (like Jordan’s teammate, Scottie Pippen).

Below is a look at the sons of 14 basketball Hall of Famers and where each of them went to school. Coincidentally, many of them ended up playing on the West Coast, including two at that school in Corvallis:

LeBron James reacts to Bronny James’ massive dunk

Bronny James had perhaps the best highlight of his career thus far, throwing down a slam in transition over a defender.

Bronny James rose to prominence due to his name, but over the last few years, he has developed into a more well-rounded player who is increasingly earning his status based on his merits. James is ranked a four-star player and listed on the 247Sports Composite as the No. 43 prospect in the class of 2023.

On Monday, James threw down what may be his most spectacular highlight to date. He raced down court in transition, went left around a defender and then stuffed it in with his right hand over the defender’s head. The crowd at the California Club’s game against the U18 Florida Select team went nuts.

On Twitter, LeBron James reacted accordingly.

Most were impressed with the dunk, including Utah Jazz star Donovan Mitchell, who has had his own fair share of highlights at the rim over his NBA career.

Of course, some weren’t. Skip Bayless tweeted that Bronny’s father “would’ve dunked it left-handed” and that Bronny “got away with it,” then was surprised that he received backlash for allowing his hatred of James to transcend to the next generation of the family.

Regardless, James is showing out at Sierra Canyon for his final year of high school. On3 reported that Oregon, USC and Ohio State are the three schools actively recruiting the shooting guard. He’ll have one more year to decide on a college or an alternative route to the pros.

Oregon Ducks become new favorite to land commitment from Bronny James Jr.

A new expert prediction shows that the Oregon Ducks are the favorites to land a commitment from 4-star Bronny James.

Things in the recruiting world happen fast.

It was only a few days ago that we were learning of the five teams who are reportedly working to recruit 4-star guard Bronny James, the son of NBA legend LeBron James.

Now we are learning that the Oregon Ducks — who have been confirmed to be in the mix and have mutual interest with James — are the new favorites to land a commitment from him.

According to On3, a new expert prediction is in for the eldest James son to commit to the Ducks and join Dana Altman’s squad. James would be added to a 2023 recruiting class that already consists of 5-star SF Mookie Cook — who is playing LeBron James in an upcoming movie — and 5-star PF Kwame Evans Jr.

We will see in the coming days and weeks how credible this prediction is, but it seems that things are moving fast for the Ducks and the James family.

Bronny James’ Recruiting Profile

Fans crushed Skip Bayless after he took a completely unnecessary jab at 17-year-old Bronny James

Skip Bayless is hating on children now.

FS1 personality Skip Bayless has been LeBron James’ biggest critic throughout the Lakers star’s NBA career. There really is no topic that’s off limits for Bayless when it comes to James — Bayless will find a way to take issue with it.

And now, it appears that Bayless is gearing up to give LeBron’s 17-year-old son, Bronny, similar treatment.

Bronny — the No. 49-ranked recruit in the class of 2023, according to 247Sports — has been playing in Europe this week with the California Basketball Club. And in Monday’s game against the U18 French Select squad, Bronny electrified the crowd with a poster dunk along with scoring a game-high 25 points.

Of course, Bayless saw the reaction to the dunk on social media and decided to take a jab at the teenager for dunking with the right hand from the left side of the basket.

Like, seriously, what was the point of that tweet?

Bronny is a kid, and he had a great moment on national television. To comment about the hand he used for the dunk was petty and weird.

Understandably, fans were furious at Bayless for the unnecessary tweet.

Report: ‘Mutual interest’ exists between Oregon Ducks and Bronny James in recruiting efforts

According to a new report from On3, the Ducks are in fact recruiting Bronny James, and there is mutual interest from both parties.

The incredibly tantalizing news that LeBron ‘Bronny’ James Jr. was being recruited by the Oregon Ducks was reported last week, and it came on the heels of Oregon landing 5-star SF Mookie Cook, a player who has a connection with the NBA legend.

So for an incredibly famous high schooler who has been incredibly silent on the recruiting front, how much should we read into the report that Dana Altman and the Ducks are after him? Luckily, there are well-connected reporters who dug into the situation to find out what they could. Over at On3, they reached out to sources and people in the industry to find out what is actually going on with the eldest James son, who ranks as the No. 43 player in the 2023 class. Here’s what they had to say about Oregon:

LeBron James signed a lifetime deal with Nike toward the end of 2015. Oregon is Nike’s flagship program. Nike co-founder and chairman Phil Knight attended school in Eugene and remained very close to the program. James and Nike are reportedly business partners in other ventures as well.

Intel: Sources tell On3 that Oregon is actively recruiting James. The two parties have been in contact, and there is an active mutual interest.

Of the four other schools that were mentioned to be recruiting James — Ohio State, Michigan, USC, and UCLA — On3 is reporting that only Ohio State and USC are really recruiting James.

Bronny James’ Recruiting Profile

Bronny James has poster dunk, and LeBron James loves it

Bronny James, LeBron James’ son, served up a mighty impressive highlight jam during an exhibition game overseas.

Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James has a son, Bronny James, who is starting to attract attention and interest throughout the basketball world.

He may not be the greatest of basketball prospects, but at age 17, he is starting to develop into a very solid player.

The other day, the younger James took part in the Euro Tour, an AAU exhibition tour, and during a game in Paris, he served up an exciting highlight dunk.

His father seemed very impressed with the play, and he took to social media to let it be known that he absolutely loved the throw-down dunk.

The younger James is just 6-foot-2 and about 180 pounds, but he seems to be gaining interest from several colleges.

He is about to enter his senior year at Sierra Canyon School, and his father has stated that he wants to play with him in the NBA.

Per NBA rules, the earliest the younger James can be drafted into the league is 2024.

The elder James is in the process of negotiating a contract extension with the Lakers that could keep him on the team long enough to suit up with his son, should the Lakers get their hands on him.

LeBron James had a great reaction to Bronny’s stunning poster dunk in France

Proud Dad Moment.

Both of LeBron James’ sons, Bronny and Bryce, are playing games in Europe with the California Basketball Club as part of the AXE Euro Tour. And while the California squad dropped its opening game in London, Bronny arrived in Paris ready to put on a show.

He even managed to surprise his dad in the process.

With CBC up by 12 in the second quarter against the U18 French Select squad, Bronny — the No. 49-ranked player in the class of 2023, according to 247Sports — went coast-to-coast for a one-handed dunk over a defender. It brought the entire arena to its feet — and for good reason. What a dunk.

But the best part had to be the Proud Dad Moment from LeBron. He immediately took to Twitter with his live reaction to the poster slam from Bronny.

Oh my goodness is right. Bronny would score a game-high 25 points.

Bronny will be a senior this upcoming season at Sierra Canyon (Calif.). After some initial skepticism that Bronny would pursue the college route, coaches have started reaching out to the 17-year-old. USC, Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon, Rutgers (despite being an Adidas school) and Memphis have started to heat up their recruitment of Bronny.

That dunk should grab their attention.

Report: Dana Altman, Oregon Ducks recruiting Bronny James to Eugene

Oregon’s 2023 recruiting class may not be finished yet. A new report shows the Ducks are trying to land Bronny James, son of NBA legend LeBron James.

The Oregon Ducks men’s basketball program had a banner day on Friday in the recruiting world, landing a commitment from 5-star SF Mookie Cook, adding to an already impressive class that ranks in the top 10 of the nation.

That wasn’t the only exciting news on the recruiting front for Dana Altman and the Ducks, though. Later in the afternoon, a report came out from ESPN that Bronny James, the son of NBA legend LeBron James and the undisputed most popular player in the 2023 class, is considering the college route after high school, and is being recruited by the Ducks.

Oregon currently has three players committed in the 2023 class, but if they were able to add a high-profile player like James, it would be tough to pass up. We already know that LeBron has a prior relationship with Oregon — the ‘King’ has been on campus for football games and even gave a shoutout to Mookie Cook after he committed to the Ducks.

Will that be enough to get Bronny to Eugene? Of course not, but we know the recruiting chops that Altman has, and with the relationship that LeBron has with Nike, it wouldn’t be a complete shock to see his son with Phil Knight at Nike University.
