Jags Week 12 injury report: CB Sidney Jones, WR D.J. Chark amongst notables ruled out vs. Browns

The Jacksonville Jaguars ruled four players out for Week 12’s game against the Cleveland Browns, many of which were starters. On offense the starting players ruled out were receiver D.J. Chark (ribs) and guard Andrew Norwell (forearm). Receiver Chris Conley (hip) will also be joining them after not practicing Friday.

On defense, starting cornerback Sidney Jones IV (Achilles) was the lone player ruled out, leaving Tre Herndon as the Jags’ lone starter at the position.

Chark, Norwell, and Conley surfaced on the injury report after last Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Norwell was expected to miss Week 12’s game as Doug Marrone informed the media that the veteran’s injury would take some time to recover from earlier in the week. Tyler Shatley or rookie Ben Bartch will replace him in the lineup after both registering starts already this season.

Jones’ injury leaves the Jags in a tough predicament because they just placed cornerbacks C.J. Henderson, D.J. Hayden, and Chris Claybrooks on injured reserve. As a result, they are in a situation where they may have to start rookies Luq Barcoo and Josiah Scott Sunday against the Browns. It would mark the first starts for both players, unless the Jags go with veteran Greg Mabin, who was picked up off waivers this week.

The Jags also had two players surface as questionable on the final injury report in running back Dare Ogunbowale (hand) and quarterback Gardner Minshew II (thumb). Minshew will likely be inactive Sunday as he continues to recover from his injury.

As for the other changes on the injury report, receiver Laviska Shenault Jr. (hamstring) and safety Jarrod Wilson (shoulder) were upgraded to full participation while Aaron Lynch (shoulder) was limited as a late addition.

Shenault’s status in particular is huge news as he’s missed the Jags’ last two games. With Conley and Chark out, he will see ample opportunities on the perimeter and has a chance to turn in a strong game when considering the status of Browns cornerback Denzel Ward (calf strain), who was ruled out this week.

Jags final injury report: Gardner Minshew officially ruled out vs. Texans with 2 others

The Jags will be relatively healthy coming off their bye aside from not having their QB1 in Gardner Minshew II.

The Jacksonville Jaguars had three starting offensive linemen on their injury report Thursday, but none of them surfaced on the final injury report for Week 9’s game against the Houston Texans. In fact, there were only four players on it, and as expected, one of them was Gardner Minshew II, who was ruled OUT with a significant thumb injury.

Linebacker Dakota Allen (ankle) and running back Devine Ozigbo (hamstring) were ruled OUT alongside him while rookie linebacker Shaq Quarterman (knee) was ruled questionable.

Minshew was pretty much doubtful to play Week 9 against the Texans since his injury was revealed last week. Knowing his situation, the Jags had Jake Luton take the bulk of the starting reps in practice this week, which points to him starting Sunday.

As for Quarterman, he was a new addition to the injury report Friday and his injury made him a non-participant. That said, his injury may have been one sustained in practice Friday.

Another new addition to the injury report was receiver Keelan Cole (back), who was listed as limited. He wasn’t listed in the status column though, and that’s a good thing because he leads the Jags in receiving with 28 catches for 374 receiving yards, and three touchdowns.

As for Allen and Ozigbo, they are somewhat in the same boat. Both sustained (or re-aggravated) their injuries Week 7 against the Los Angeles Chargers and exited the game early as a result. Coming into that game Allen was listed with a foot injury on the injury report while Ozigbo was returning from injured reserve after missing all of the Jags’ 2020 games with his hamstring injury.

As for the notable changes made to the injury report, offensive tackle Cam Robinson (knee) was upgraded to limited on the offensive side. On defense, safety Brandon Watson was upgraded from limited to full.

Jaguars injury report for Thursday: OT Cam Robinson added with a knee injury

The Jags had a significant addition to their injury report for Week 9 in LT Cam Robinson.

The Jacksonville Jaguars had four new additions to their injury report Thursday (technically just two), including starting offensive tackle Cam Robinson (knee). He didn’t participate as a result and joined safety Brandon Watson (hamstring), who also sat Thursday’s session out, as the two players to be added after Wednesday.

Defensive end Adam Gotsis and tight end James O’Shaughnessy were the other two additions to the injury report, but they simply had days off.

When looking at the players who were on the injury report Wednesday, there was only one change as tight end Tyler Eifert (neck) was upgraded to full participation. That doesn’t come as a surprise as Doug Marrone said he was one of several players trending upward to play Sunday against the Houston Texans earlier this week.

On offense, the biggest story on the injury report has been quarterback Gardner Minshew II, who was projected to miss Sunday’s game after reports surfaced last week about a significant thumb injury he revealed. The news came after he hid the injury for weeks (sustained Week 5 vs. the Texans) and simply felt it was no longer bearable to play with. That said, Minshew didn’t participate Wednesday or Thursday and is highly likely to be ruled out on the final injury  report. That, of course, would give rookie Jake Luton the nod to be starter as he’s been taking a lot of starter reps this week.

Additionally, starting center Brandon Linder (hip) and right guard A.J. Cann (shoulder) remained limited. That means Friday will be a big day for them in addition to Robinson because the Jags could be without three starting offensive lineman if they are all listed as questionable, doubtful, or out on the final injury report.

If the three can’t go the Jags have Will Richardson down as their backup left tackle, Tyler Shatley as their backup center, and rookie Ben Bartch as their backup guard.

On defense starting weak-side linebacker Myles Jack (ankle), cornerback Sidney Jones (ribs), and safety Jarrod Wilson (hamstring) remained limited. With Marrone saying he was confident that Jack and Wilson would be ready to go earlier this wee, it appears Jones is the biggest question mark. It would be huge for the Jags if he can suit up because he was their best player in the last meeting with the Texans, accumulating three tackles, a pick, and four pass breakups.

If Jones can’t go, the Jags could play Chris Claybrooks in his place and move Tre Herndon to nickelback.

Final injury report for Week 3: Jags rule Chark as questionable, Linder ruled OUT vs. Dolphins

The Jags may be without two key offensive starters against the Miami Dolphins, who have a key defensive injury of their own to deal with.

The Jacksonville Jaguars could be without several key players for their Thursday Night Football battle with the Miami Dolphins, most of which are on the offensive side.

As expected, the Jags ruled center Brandon Linder out after he sustained a knee injury in Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans. With him set to be sidelined, Tyler Shatley, who has seven career starts at center (15 starts overall) will start in his place.

Receiver D.J. Chark Jr. was ruled questionable and didn’t practice Wednesday. He was limited both on Monday and Tuesday so his status could go either way come game time. Luckily, if he can’t go the Jags a pretty strong at receiver with Keelan Cole, Dede Westbrook (who has been inactive all season), and rookies Laviska Shenault Jr. and Collin Johnson behind him.

As mentioned earlier, kicker Josh Lambo was ruled out with a hip injury and will be going on injured reserve. Starting in his place will be practice squad rookie Brandon Wright from Georgia State University.

The only two other players to surface on the injury report for the Jags, Tyler Davis and Brandon Watson, were full participants in practice and were left off the status column.

As for the Dolphins, they ruled their star cornerback Byron Jones out with a hip and Achilles injury, which means rookie Noah Igbinoghene will start in his place. In their last game, the first-rounder struggled mightily so his matchups on the outside will be worth watching Thursday.

The Dolphins also ruled backup safety Clayton Fejedelem out, too, while all of the others on their injury report were full participants.

Jags injury report: WR D.J. Chark practices on a limited basis Monday

The Jags’ first injury report for Week 3 only had four players on it, including WR D.J. Chark who was limited.

The Jacksonville Jaguars will have a short week to prepare for their next game as they will face the Miami Dolphins for Thursday Night Football. Luckily, there weren’t many injuries to deal with after their game against the Tennessee Titans and only four players surface on the injury report Monday. Those players were receiver D.J. Chark Jr. (chest), tight end Tyler Davis (knee), center Brandon Linder (knee), and safety Brandon Watson (illness).

Chark and Davis were both limited while Linder and Watson didn’t practice.

Chark is a new addition to the injury report and wasn’t on it last week. However, with him surfacing on the report as a limited participant, it appears the Jags will slowly work him up to full participation before Thursday’s game.

Davis, on the other hand, has been on the report since the opening week of the season. He’s been a non-participant the whole time and Monday marked his first time practicing this regular season.

As previously reported, Linder was ruled day-to-day after sustaining a knee injury in the third quarter of Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans. He didn’t return after being ruled questionable and Tyler Shatley took his place for the remainder of the game. If Linder is unavailable, Shatley will remain in the lineup Week 3 as he’s started in seven games at the center position for the Jags.
