Tom Brady shows Chris Godwin love on Instagram

See what Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady had to say to wide receiver Chris Godwin on Instagram after Godwin gave him the No. 12 jersey.

The debate about who will wear No. 12 next season for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers ended yesterday when wide receiver Chris Godwin gifted the number to six-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady.

TB12 left the New England Patriots after 20 years and nine Super Bowl appearances, and his arrival in Tampa Bay is already being heralded as the greatest free-agent signing ever by the franchise. Now, we officially know what number he will don as a member of the Buccaneers.

Godwin, who switched to No. 14, had worn 12 since his high school days, but clearly had no problem giving it to the future Hall of Famer. Godwin even took to Instagram to celebrate the news.

Best of all, both Brady and Bucs wide receiver Mike Evans chimed in to comment.

Tom Brady jerseys are for sale … well, kind of

Fans can pre-order their new Tom Brady Buccaneers jersey, but will have to wait to see what the number and design is.

Tom Brady is a Buccaneer, meaning fans everywhere will be lining up to get their new Brady-Bucs threads whenever they become available.

While Brady’s No. 12 jersey with the New England Patriots was a hot-ticket item every year, it remains to be seen whether or not he’ll be donning the No. 12 in Tampa Bay, since it already belongs to wide receiver Chris Godwin.

Some sites seem to believe Brady wearing his famous number is all but certain, but today, Brady jerseys are available for pre-order, and it’s clear the debate about his number is still alive and well.

Take a look.

Doesn’t matter what number Brady wears next season in Tampa Bay, so long as he can help increase the number in the win column for the Bucs. Also, since the team is unveiling their redesigned uniforms next month, we don’t know what Brady’s jersey is really going to look like.

But, if you want to order a plan white jersey with a big fat ‘0’ and Brady on the back, you’re in luck today!

ESPN does little to clear up the debate about who will wear No. 12 for the Bucs

TB12 is now a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but will he still be wearing that number when the season starts?

Tom Brady is officially a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after a 20-year run with the New England Patriots that produced nine Super Bowl appearances and six championships.

Brady’s arrival in Tampa is being heralded as the greatest free agent signing in franchise history. TB12’s legacy will ultimately include his stint with the Bucs. The question is whether we will still be referring to him as TB12 or not.

While Brady made a name for himself, and his brand, wearing the No. 12 with the Patriots, that number belongs to Bucs receiver Chris Godwin, who has worn it since his high school days.

The Bucs haven’t officially issued Brady a number, at least according to the roster on their official website. But, some already believe Brady wearing No. 12 is all but certain. As for ESPN, they aren’t taking sides on this issue, evident by the bios of Brady and Godwin that lists them both as 12.

Take a look.

Godwin has addressed the jersey issue, but it remains to be seen where things will land. Plus, the only number that matters next year for the Bucs is the one in the win column. I’m sure they’d love to see a 12 there, too.

See how Bucs players reacted to seeing the team’s new uniforms

If you’re excited about the Buccaneers’ new jerseys, wait until you see how players reacted when they got a sneak peek.

Tom Brady isn’t the only reason Buccaneers fans should be excited about the 2020 season. The team will also unveil new uniforms next month, ditching the alarm clock numbers (we hope) in favor of something a little less futuristic.

While fans will have to wait a little longer to get a glimpse of the team’s new threads, players were treated to a sneak peek of their new uniforms. Check out the video below, courtesy of the Bucs’ Twitter account, to see their reactions.

The question we are all wondering is who will be wearing No. 12 in the fall — Chris Godwin or Tom Brady?

Chris Godwin, Tom Brady and the No. 12 jersey

Now that quarterback Tom Brady is heading to the Buccaneers, will wide receiver Chris Godwin hand over the infamous No. 12 jersey?

Now that Tom Brady has officially signed his contract to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, it’s time to address the elephant in the room: that No. 12 jersey.

As I wrote the other week before Brady announced his decision to leave the New England Patriots, the Bucs’ potential signing of the Golden Boy could make things awkward for Pro Bowl receiver Chris Godwin, who dons the No. 12 jersey for Tampa Bay. Brady wore 12 his entire 20-year career with the Pats and made it part of his infamous TB12 brand.

So, now that Brady is officially Tampa bound, what will Godwin do? The receiver answered that question in a video interview with the Bucs’ website.

Per Godwin:

“Obviously if he doesn’t want it, or if he’s not making a big deal out of it, I’m definitely going to keep it. We’ll see how that goes. I think just out of respect for what he’s done, what he’s accomplished, just kind of the career he’s built for himself, you have to lean into that respect.”

Godwin has worn the No. 12 since his high school days. Brady, who wore No. 10 at Michigan, wanted that number when he joined the Pats, but it was already taken. Turns out it was the Patriots’ then-equipment manager who assigned Brady No. 12.

Even if Brady wanted No. 10, that number is already taken by wide receiver Scotty Miller. It should be interesting to see which number Brady eventually lands on. But, one thing is for sure, you can bet his Bucs jersey will be one of the top sellers in the league next year.
