Notre Dame seed projections for NCAA Tournament

Might as well reserve your seats for the first two rounds in South Bend now.

Many are concerned about [autotag]Olivia Miles[/autotag]’ availability for the NCAA Tournament. Still others are concerned that her questionable status will affect Notre Dame’s seeding. But if you look at what experts are projecting, you’ll notice that Miles’ status is a minor factor at best.

Before Miles went down, the Irish were a surefire lock to host the first two rounds of the tournament. But between that unfortunate turn and the Irish getting blown out by Louisville without Miles in the ACC Tournament, doubts began to linger. Since then, it has become clear that those doubts were based purely on emotion. One only needed to take a step back and realize that the Irish built an impressive body of work during the regular season.

Miles or no Miles, the Irish’s projected seeding remains consistent, and barring a sudden shift in attitudes by the selection committee, it appears March Madness indeed will make a stop in South Bend. If you don’t believe that, look at these projections:

Notre Dame announces nonconference schedule for 2022-23 season

Notre Dame is eager to build on the success it had during the 2021-22 season.

Notre Dame is eager to build on the success it had during the 2021-22 season. It won two NCAA Tournament games, and [autotag]Blake Wesley[/autotag] became the program’s first one-and-done player after being drafted by the San Antonio Spurs. For the 2022-23 season, the Irish are returning most of their players and have another freshman with high expectations in [autotag]JJ Starling[/autotag]. We now know how their season will start in that they have released their nonconference schedule.

After everything the Irish accomplished last year, opponents will know not to take them lightly. [autotag]Mike Brey[/autotag] has recaptured his old magic, and that means a team that should continue to get better. All of this means some quality basketball will be played, and that means a product worth the money paid by the fans who come out to see them. After a Nov. 2 exhibition against New Orleans-based NAIA opponent Xavier, here’s who the Irish will face before playing an ACC schedule that promises even more excitement:

Notre Dame releases nonconference schedule for 2022-23 season

Which game are you most looking forward to?

As much as Notre Dame is looking forward to playing Big Ten competition, the nonconference schedule is just as exciting. We know this because that schedule for the 2022-23 season has been announced. When you look at quite the number of high-profile opponents the Irish have scheduled, this is the exact measuring stick you want to see what kind of team you have.

The season officially begins with a trip to Colorado and the 2022 Ice Breaker Tournament. The Irish will begin that with a game against defending national champion Denver, followed by one at the Air Force Academy. This will be the Irish’s sixth time in this tournament, which they won in 2012 and 2018.

Of note, the opening home slate against Northern Michigan will be played on two nonconsecutive days so that neither game conflicts with the football team’s home game against Stanford that weekend.

And, of course, it’s always nice to schedule both Boston schools with the rich traditions they have.

Here is the full nonconference schedule:

Notre Dame makes fifth consecutive NCAA Tournament

Although it was an up-and-down season for Notre Dame, it still is worthy of competing for the national championship.

Although it was an up-and-down season for Notre Dame, it still is worthy of competing for the national championship. The NCAA Tournament will feature the Irish for the fifth consecutive time after the bracket was unveiled Sunday. However, the Irish (14-13-2) face a tall order after drawing second overall seed Boston College (17-5-1) in the first round. The teams will play in the Northeast Regional on Saturday in Albany, New York, and the winner will play either St. Cloud State or Boston University in the regional final the next day.

These schools did not play each other this past season as the Irish were confined to playing Big Ten opponents and Arizona State. Their last meetings took place early in the 2019-20 season, which resulted in two wins for the Eagles. That improved their all-time advantage in the series to 23-20-3. Prior to those games, the Irish had won four of the previous six in the series.
