The Red Sox-Twins game was delayed over an extremely loud siren for 4 minutes

That’s a new one.

Over the years, we’ve seen quite a few weird delays of baseball games. In spring training, bees have been known to take over games in Arizona. Last season, there was a delay because someone flew a drone over a stadium.

How about a delay over a really loud, annoying noise? Sure, why not!

Thursday’s game between the Boston Red Sox and Minnesota Twins fell right in the middle of something called Severe Weather Awareness Week. The point is to promote preparedness in the case of severe weather in Minnesota. And evidently, that included an extended blaring of the tornado sirens.

You can’t play baseball through rain. You also can’t play baseball through loud noises, apparently.

The game was delayed for about four minutes.

On the plus side, the blaring of these sirens were well communicated with the Twins. The videoboard at Target Field displayed the time that the sirens would sound and urged everyone not to be alarmed.

So, there’s that.

The Boston Red Sox unveiled new uniforms that aren’t red at all. Here’s why

The Boston Red Sox new uniforms aren’t red at all

The Boston Red Sox are one of Major League Baseball’s premier teams. They’re recognized across the world. You know a Red Sox uniform when you see one.

Everyone knows the classic white uniform with the red trim that defines the Red Sox with the red “Boston” written across the chest in that classic font. That’s the look.

But now, the Red Sox have a new one. And, well, uh, it isn’t red at all.

The Red Sox unveiled a brand new alternate uniform on Tuesday in partnership with Nike as a part of their “City Connect” series. And it looks absolutely nothing like what we’re used to from the Red Sox.

LeBron James reflects on being first Black part-owner in Fenway Sports Group: ‘Pretty damn cool’

LeBron James is making history off the court.

LeBron James recognizes the significance of his new position. He’s the first Black part-owner in the Fenway Sports Group.

There’s only one Black principal owner in the four major sports: Michael Jordan, who owns the Charlotte Hornets; there’s a handful of Black minority owners, with James and Carter joining the likes of Derek Jeter (Marlins) and Patrick Mahomes (Royals). And considering the Boston Red Sox were the last team to integrate in July 1959, James’ spot with his business partner Maverick Carter is all the more important.

“For me and for my partner Maverick to be the first two Black men to be a part of that ownership group in the history of that franchise — I think it’s pretty damn cool,” James said Wednesday during a press conference. “It gives me and people that look like me hope and inspiration that they can be in a position like that as well.”

James’ MLB fandom is a bit complicated, as he’s clearly a fan of the New York Yankees and the Cleveland Indians — and the L.A. Dodgers. Not only is he diversifying his business ventures, but he’s also adding another pro baseball team to root for.

LeBron James became part-owner of the Red Sox and fans quickly pointed out he’s Yankees fan

Wait, isn’t LeBron a Yankees fan?

Here’s something I didn’t see coming today – LeBron James became a partner in the Fenway Sports Group and is now a part-owner of the Boston Red Sox.

That’s pretty cool for LeBron as he continues to expand his brand with different business ventures.

He’s also been a baseball fan for quite a long time… but that’s where things get a bit awkward with his new role with the Red Sox. You see, he has been a fan of the New York Yankees, who are bitter rivals with the Red Sox.

Just last year he was seen wearing a Yankees hat into a game against the Celtics in Boston:

Here he is showing off his love for the Yankees back in 2007 at an Indians-Yankees playoff game:

He’s also cheered for the Indians:

And he’s also cheered for the defending-champion Dodgers.

Lots of fans had lots of feelings about this:

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is set to become a part owner of the Boston Red Sox.

It seems fans of the Boston sports scene cannot get rid of LeBron James that easily. The nemesis of the Boston Celtics will have his name among the ownership group of the Boston Red Sox who share the sports scene with the C’s.

James and Maverick Carter have joined Fenway Sports Group, which owns the Red Sox, and the two become the first Black partners in Fenway Sports Group history. This is just another piece of history for James as the NBA legend continues to add to his legacy off the court. While Celtics fans will not be the biggest cheerleaders of this move after everything James has put the franchise through in recent seasons, this is a big deal.

It goes to show that while James will be remembered for being a terrific basketball player, he has also made a big impact off the floor as well.
