Doc Rivers will lead the East in the NBA All-Star game

Led by MVP frontrunner Joel Embiid’s career-high 50 points, Philadelphia took care of business in the fourth quarter to shut the door on Chicago. The 112-105 Sixers win improved their record to 20-10, and clinched the Eastern Conference’s best record through February 21.

By holding the best mark in the conference, Philadelphia’s staff gets the honor of coaching the Eastern Conference All-Star’s on March 7 in Atlanta. Doc Rivers will lead Team Durant against Team Lebron next month. Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant was named as Rivers’ captain, and will be a starter alongside Bradley Beal, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Joel Embiid, and Kyrie Irving.

This isn’t new territory for Rivers, who will be coaching in his third NBA All-Star game. With the Boston Celtics, Rivers and his staff got there in 2008 and 2011.
