Bears injury report: Khalil Mack limited, John Jenkins DNP on Wednesday

The Bears released their first injury report of the week ahead of their Week 3 match-up against the Falcons, and it was encouraging.

The Chicago Bears released their first injury report of the week on Wednesday ahead of their Week 3 match-up against the Atlanta Falcons, and it was a welcome change from previous weeks. Especially since so many teams suffered some brutal injuries last Sunday, and the Bears came out of things relatively healthy.

Outside linebacker Khalil Mack was limited on Wednesday, as he continues to nurse a knee injury that he’s played through the first two weeks. Nose tackle John Jenkins did not practice with a thumb injury, which will be something to keep an eye on. He just about split reps with nose tackle Bilal Nichols last week against the New York Giants.

One of the encouraging signs from Wednesday’s practice is that outside linebacker Robert Quinn, who dealt with an ankle injury that kept him out of the season opener, practiced in full.

The injury report also notes some slight injuries that some Bears players are dealing with, including receiver Allen Robinson (knee), receiver Anthony Miller (calf), receiver Darnell Mooney (quad) and tight end Cole Kmet (shoulder). They all practiced in full on Wednesday.

There were also three players that had a veteran resting day, including tight end Jimmy Graham, inside linebacker Danny Trevathan and receiver Ted Ginn Jr.

On the Falcons side of things, there are a plethora of injuries. Receiver Julio Jones (hamstring) was among nine players that did not practice Wednesday, along with their top two edge rushers and both starting offensive tackles.

So, all things considered, the Bears are sitting in a good place right now.

Bears Week 2 Inactives: Khalil Mack and Robert Quinn IN vs. Giants

The Bears have released their list of inactives ahead of today’s home opener against the Giants, and Robert Quinn will make his debut.

The Chicago Bears have released their list of inactives ahead of today’s home opener against the New York Giants.

As expected, the Bears pass rush will have its full complement of players with Khalil Mack (knee) and Robert Quinn (ankle) both active against the Giants. Following a so-so performance by the Bears pass rush in Week 1, we’ll see how the tandem of Mack and Quinn will get after Giants quarterback Daniel Jones.

Among the players inactive is receiver Ted Ginn Jr., which comes as a surprise as he’s a healthy scratch. That means you should expect an expanded role from rookie receiver Darnell Mooney, who impressed in his debut game last Sunday.

Also inactive are cornerback Duke Shelley, offensive lineman Arlington Hambright, receiver Riley Ridley, outside linebacker Trevis Gipson and inside linebacker Josh Woods, who was previously ruled out for a personal reason.

Bears OLB Robert Quinn expected to make his debut vs. Giants

The Bears will have their full complement of pass rushers when they take on the Giants as Robert Quinn is expected to make his debut.

The Chicago Bears are going to have their full pass rush at their disposal when they host the New York Giants.

Outside linebacker Robert Quinn is expected to make his debut Sunday against the Giants, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Quinn missed the season opener with an ankle injury. He participated all week in practice, including in full on Friday. Quinn’s status was questionable, along with his new partner-in-crime Khalil Mack.

Last week against the Lions, the Bears struggled to get home to quarterback Matthew Stafford, sacking him just once. While Mack didn’t populate the box score, he was bringing the pressure.

Now, with Quinn, we’ll see if he can take advantage of the attention on Mack and get after Giants quarterback Daniel Jones, who was sacked three times in the season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

It could wind up being a long day for Jones and the Giants offensive line going against the tandem of Mack and Quinn.

Bears Week 2 Injury Report: Khalil Mack, Robert Quinn questionable

The Chicago Bears listed Khalil Mack and Robert Quinn as questionable for Week 2’s game against the New York Giants

The Chicago Bears combination of edge rushers, Khalil Mack and Robert Quinn, have been listed as questionable for Week 2’s home opener against the New York Giants, the team announced Friday.

Quinn completed his first ‘full’ practice of the 2020 season, while Mack was limited with a knee injury.

“I’m going to be ready on Sunday,” Mack said Friday.

The Bears’ pass rush has a huge opportunity to get on track against the Giants, whose offensive line surrendered the most pressures of any team in the NFL in Week 1.

Giants coach Joe Judge fully expects Mack and Quinn to play, and to be effective too.

“I’d be surprised if those players don’t play,” Judge said. “We’re fully anticipating seeing those top-end defensive players, especially the edge players going as hard as they can for 60 minutes.”

Bears injury report: Khalil Mack, Robert Quinn remain limited in Thursday’s practice

The Bears released their Thursday injury report, and it was more of the same regarding Chicago’s top pass rushers.

The Chicago Bears released their Thursday injury report, and it was more of the same regarding Chicago’s top pass rushers. Although with a new addition.

Outside linebackers Khalil Mack and Robert Quinn were limited for the second straight practice. Mack continues to nurse a knee injury, one that kept him limited throughout last week but he still managed to play Sunday.

Quinn, however, is dealing with an ankle injury that held him out of practice last week and caused him to miss last Sunday’s season opener against the Detroit Lions. The fact that Quinn is limited is certainly an encouraging sign that perhaps he’ll be good to go for Week 2. Although Bears head coach Matt Nagy has been known for playing it safe with injuries.

Defensive tackle Akiem Hicks, another important part of Chicago’s pass rush, did not practice Thursday with an undisclosed illness. If it’s nothing serious, Hicks should be good to go against the New York Giants on Sunday.

Elsewhere, Bears tight end Jimmy Graham and wide receiver Ted Ginn Jr. were full participants in Thursday’s practice following a veteran rest day on Wednesday.

On the Giants’ side of things, receiver Golden Tate remained limited with a hamstring injury, which caused him to miss last week’s opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Also limited for the Giants on Thursday was linebacker Carter Coughlin (hamstring) and defensive back Adrian Colbert (quad).

Bears injury report: Khalil Mack, Robert Quinn limited on Wednesday

The Bears got some encouraging news out of Wednesday’s practice where Khalil Mack and Robert Quinn were limited ahead of Week 2.

The Chicago Bears released their first injury report of the season ahead of their Week 2 match-up against the New York Giants, and there’s some encouraging news.

New outside linebacker Robert Quinn, who missed the Week 1 game against the Detroit Lions with an ankle injury, was limited in practice on Wednesday. Quinn did not practice at all last week, so while this isn’t ideal, it’s certainly promising that he could be available for Sunday’s game against the Giants.

Considering the Bears struggled to get after the quarterback against the Lions, Quinn’s presence would surely do wonders for a pass rush that needs to be better moving forward.

After all, that’s the reason why the Bears signed Quinn to a five-year, $70 million deal this offseason. They need an impact player opposite Khalil Mack, especially one that could have his way with a porous Giants offensive line.

Speaking of Mack, he was also limited in Wednesday’s practice with a knee injury. It was the same knee injury that kept him a limited participant throughout last week’s practices and left him with a questionable status.

Assuming both Mack and Quinn are able to go Sunday, that could be disastrous for a Giants offensive line that struggled to stop much last week against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Elsewhere on the injury report, tight end Jimmy Graham and receiver Ted Ginn Jr. had a veteran rest day on Wednesday.

Bears RB David Montgomery expected to play vs. Lions

There’s some good news on the injury front for the Bears as running back David Montgomery (groin) is expected to play vs. Lions.

There’s some good news on the injury front for the Chicago Bears.

Running back David Montgomery, who suffered a groin injury in late August, is expected to play against the Detroit Lions, according to Ian Rapoport. Montgomery was listed as questionable, but he practiced in full on Thursday and Friday. Rapoport says Montgomery won’t be limited in any capacity, and he’s expected to receive his full workload.

Elsewhere, versatile weapon Cordarrelle Patterson, who was listed as questionable with a knee injury, is also expected to play against Detroit.

Montgomery has been cautious this week in preparation for the season opener. He didn’t want to rush back too quickly. Ultimately, it sounds like Montgomery feels good about where he’s at to take the field Sunday.

“Your best ability is availability,” Montgomery said before practice on Thursday. “With me, it’s being sure I take care of myself. I’d be hurting the team more if I was to come back earlier than I was supposed to and continue to be hurt and hurt myself again. So I hurt the team, but I hurt myself, too. The biggest thing is being smart with myself, being smart with my body and being sure I communicate with the training staff and the coaches to let them know how I feel.”

But it’s not all good news for Chicago. Unfortunately for them, pass rusher Robert Quinn is listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game with an ankle injury.

Bears injury report: Robert Quinn doubtful, Khalil Mack and David Montgomery questionable vs. Lions

The Chicago Bears have released their final injury report of the week, and it’s not good news for the Bears’ pass rush.

The Chicago Bears have released their final injury report of the week, and it’s not good news for the Bears’ pass rush.

Outside linebacker Robert Quinn did not practice for a third straight day, and he’s been listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions. Meanwhile, outside linebacker Khalil Mack was limited for his third straight practice, and he’s been listed as questionable.

But there is some good news on offense. Running back David Montgomery was a full participant in Friday’s practice, and he’s officially questionable for Sunday’s game. But considering Montgomery suffered a groin injury just two weeks ago — and he’s practiced for the last two days — that’s a good sign that he could be good to go against Detroit.

Elsewhere, receiver Cordarrelle Patterson, offensive lineman Jason Spriggs, receiver Javon Wims, offensive lineman Germain Ifedi and cornerback Buster Skrine were all full participants in practice. They’re all listed as questionable.

There’s definitely cause for concern for the Bears defense, who will likely be down one, possibly two starting edge defenders come Sunday. Quinn won’t be playing Sunday, which means Barkevious Mingo, rookie Trevis Gipson and James Vaughters will get plenty of opportunities early to prove themselves. Mack, who was limited all week, will possibly tough it out against Detroit.

On the Lions injury front, star receiver Kenny Golladay has officially been listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game with a hamstring injury.

Bears injury report: David Montgomery practices in full, Robert Quinn DNP on Thursday

The Bears released their Thursday injury report ahead of Sunday’s game against the Lions, and there’s some good news and bad news.

The Chicago Bears released their second injury report of the season ahead of their Week 1 match-up against the Detroit Lions, and there’s some good news and bad news.

Running back David Montgomery, who suffered a groin injury two weeks ago, was a full participant in practice on Thursday. That’s certainly encouraging for Montgomery’s status for Sunday’s game, although Montgomery said he’s taking a cautious approach and not trying to rush himself back.

“I’d be hurting the team more if I was to come back earlier than I was supposed to and continue to be hurt and hurt myself again,” Montgomery told reporters before Thursday’s practice. “So I hurt the team, but I hurt myself, too. The biggest thing is being smart with myself, being smart with my body and being sure I communicate with the training staff and the coaches to let them know how I feel and taking it one day at a time.”

But if Montgomery practices in full again tomorrow and doesn’t suffer a setback, there’s a good chance that he’ll play Sunday against Detroit, which is great news for the Bears.

While there’s good news on the Montgomery front, the same can’t be said for Chicago’s pass rushers. For the second straight day, outside linebacker Robert Quinn did not practice with an ankle injury. At this point, it’s time to start worrying about Quinn’s availability when the Bears face the Lions.

His running mate Khalil Mack was once again limited with a knee injury, although Matt Nagy believes he’ll be fine.

Elsewhere, receiver Cordarrelle Patterson (knee), receiver Javon Wims (achilles), offensive lineman Germain Ifedi (tricep), cornerback Buster Skrine (finger) and offensive line Jason Spriggs (knee) all practiced in full.

What’s going on with Bears OLB Robert Quinn?

After missing a good portion of camp practices, Robert Quinn did not practice Wednesday. Is there cause for concern heading into Week 1?

[jwplayer xqUrAatf-ThvAeFxT]

As the Chicago Bears prepare to open the regular season, there are a number of questions ahead of the Week 1 match-up against the Detroit Lions.

There have been concerns about running back David Montgomery’s status for the season opener, which teammate Tarik Cohen said was made a bigger deal than it actually was.

But there is reason to be concerned about the status of outside linebacker Robert Quinn, who did not practice Wednesday. That’s nothing new for Quinn, who has barely practiced during training camp practices. His only full practice in team drills came in the scrimmage at Soldier Field.

The Bears have preached all offseason that they weren’t worried about Quinn’s status for the regular season. But it’s fair to wonder, what the heck is going on with Quinn?

Quinn was officially listed with an ankle injury on Wednesday’s practice report, which is certainly a development. Bears coach Matt Nagy said Quinn was ramping up following what a team called a personal issue.

When general manager Ryan Pace was asked about Quinn’s status heading into the regular season, he didn’t sound too concerned about him being behind with this defense.

“The best thing he does is get after the quarterback and rush the passer, so it’s not like you know there’s a ton of Xs and Os necessarily with some of that — just get off the ball and get the corner,” Pace said. “But we feel good about where he is from knowing our defense even if he has had a little bit of a short training camp.”

Nagy spoke to the media ahead of Wednesday’s practice, so he’ll field questions about Quinn’s status on Thursday. Perhaps then we’ll get a little clarity on the situation. But, with Nagy, I wouldn’t count on it.
