The Chicago Bears released their first injury report ahead of Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints, and Wednesday’s report is quite alarming.

The Bears had four starters that did not practice due to injury. Outside linebacker Khalil Mack (ankle), receiver Allen Robinson (concussion), center Cody Whitehair (calf) and Cordarrelle Patterson (quad) all were sidelined on Wednesday.

Safety Eddie Jackson (knee), tight end Cole Kmet (back) and safety Sherrick McManis (hamstring) were all limited during Wednesday’s practice.

Jackson had an injury scare on Monday when it appeared that he suffered a non-contact injury to his knee, where many feared it would end his season. But Jackson soon returned to the game and even got his first defensive touchdown this season in the fourth quarter.

Whitehair left Monday’s game with a calf injury, but Matt Nagy sounded confident in his status moving forward.

We’ll see how Chicago’s injury situation shakes out, where they could be without some important players against the Saints.

The Bears will also have cornerback Buster Skrine, who has been dealing with an ankle injury this week, available to them. But the Bears do have Duke Shelley listed as active, which means he’ll be available should there be any setbacks with Skrine.

Safety and special teams ace Sherrick McManis was already ruled out with a hamstring injury that he re-aggravated last week.

Other inactives for the Bears include left guard Arlington Hambright, running back Artavis Pierce, receiver Riley Ridley and outside linebacker Trevis Gipson.

Mack did not practice on Friday due to a sore back, which head coach Matt Nagy brushed off as nothing other than precautionary measures. He was a limited participant on Saturday, and it would have to be pretty extreme for Mack not to suit up against the Rams.

Skrine was limited on Saturday after missing practice this week with an ankle injury, which is encouraging about his status for Monday.

With Coward questionable for Monday, we could see Alex Bars at left guard against the Rams, where a big challenge in Rams All-Pro defensive tackle Aaron Donald awaits.

The Bears likely won’t have to face running back Christian McCaffrey, who still hasn’t been activated from injured reserve with a high ankle injury. That means they’ll face former Bears running back Mike Davis heading into Sunday.
