Quintez Cephus makes it clear that he would love to play for Green Bay

The former Wisconsin wide receiver makes it clear that he would love playing for Green Bay

With the NFL Draft just days away, a Badger prospect that many Green Bay Packer fans have kept their eye on is Quintez Cephus. In his junior season, the Macon (Ga.) native had 901 receiving yards and seven touchdowns, including a number of major highlight grabs. As Wisconsin’s wide receiver one, Cephus became one of the most dangerous deep threats in the country.

The Green Bay Packers are certainly in the market for a late-round sleeper at the wide receiver position. Catching balls from Aaron Rodgers should be an easy sell for any prospect, and the former Badger receiver made it clear that he would love to play with Rodgers in Green Bay. In a recent Wisconsin State Journal piece by Jason Wilde, Cephus told WSJ his thoughts on playing for the Packers. “Personally, I would love to play for the Packers. I’ve always watched Aaron Rodgers growing up, and I’ve always studied Davante Adams. It’d be a blessing to play with those caliber of players.”

If Packer fans, of which many are also Badger fans, saw what Cephus did in Madison this past year, there should be no questions about whether or not they would want to take a late-round chance on the wide receiver.

For Wisconsin’s fourth game of the year, and their toughest early test, Vegas sees the Badgers as the underdog. UW travels to “The Big House” to face Michigan on September 26th in a key early-season conference clash. BetMGM sees the Badgers as a 3.5 point underdog, meaning that if you were to take the Badgers against the spread, they would have to lose by three points or less for your bet to cash. On the moneyline, a bet that only wins if your team wins (no points involved), Wisconsin is at +150, meaning a ten dollar wager would net you 15 dollars of profit. UW’s fourth game of the year will be the first time Wisconsin sees themselves as the underdog in the 2020 season.

Zack Baun tests positive for a diluted combine sample, but will it have a major impact on his draft stock?

Will it have a major impact on his draft stock?

Badger linebacker Zack Baun recently told all 32 NFL teams that he has tested positive for a diluted sample at the combine per ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter via Twitter. The Wisconsin native blamed the test on drinking too much water before his combine weigh-in:

The impact of the positive test will be relatively unknown until draft day, although a recent rule change in the NFL CBA may help the former Badger star according to Schefter.

Baun is currently projected to be as high as a late-first round pick, with a floor of being taken in the late-second round. Time will tell if the positive test has a major impact on his draft position, but the new CBA will certainly help lessen the effects of this.

With this morning’s commitment of 3-star running back Antwan Roberts via Twitterthe Badgers class of 2021 added another solid piece to an already impressive group. Here is a look at how the class shapes up as of today.

According to 247sports, the Badgers currently have the number five ranked 2021 football class in the nation. In terms of Big Ten conference rankings, UW enters in at second, behind only Ohio State.  Wisconsin’s class of 2021 currently features ten commitments, including two high-four star offensive lineman in JP Benzschawel and Riley Malman. Roberts became the third running back in the class, joining Wisconsin natives Jackson Acker and Loyal Crawford.

The Badgers have landed commitments from the top five players in the state of Wisconsin per 247sports rankings.

Wisconsin coaches still have their eyes on a plethora of top targets in the 2021 class. Offensive tackle Nolan Rucci is the five-star brother of current Wisconsin tight end Hayden Rucci, and the Pennsylvania native’s recruiting battle is all but down to the Badgers, Clemson, and the Penn State Nittany Lions. Wisconsin is also in a recruiting battle for four-star WDE TJ Bollers, who recently listed the Badgers in his top-6.

Three-star Santa Barbara (Calif.) quarterback Deacon Pe’a Hill is currently the only committed QB in the class of 2021. The pro-style QB has a massive arm, and recently earned an invite to the 2021 Polynesian Bowl
