Two of the players involved with the skirmish on Thursday night will be suspended when their teams face the Cardinals in December.
The Arizona Cardinals will be affected by the results of the fight that took place on Thursday night at the end of the game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns. Browns defensive end Myles Garrett and Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey have received suspensions from the league and will not be available for their teams when they play the Cardinals in December.
The league released a statement announcing that Garrett, who ripped off Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph’s helmet and hit him in the head with it, has been suspended indefinitely and it will be at least through the end of this season, including the postseason should the Browns make it to the playoffs.
Pouncey was suspended three games for his involvement.
The Cardinals play the Steelers in three weeks at State Farm Stadium. It will be the final game of his suspension. The Browns come to town the next week. Garrett will obviously miss that game as well.
Garrett is Cleveland’s best defensive player and leads the team with 10 sacks.
Pouncey is perhaps the Steelers’ best offensive lineman.
So while the Cardinals had nothing to do with what happened Thursday night, their December schedule became at least a little easier because of what happened.
Cassius Marsh, Andy Lee and Tramaine Brock are all former 49ers.
When the Arizona Cardinals face their opponents, almost always there are players on both teams who spent time with the other at some point in their career. This is almost the case in Week 11 as the Cardinals take on the San Francisco 49ers.
The Cardinals have three players who used to play for the Niners, but San Francisco has no former Cardinals at all on its roster.
Who are the three former 49ers?
CB Tramaine Brock
Brock played for the 49ers from 2010-2016. He played 80 games for them after making the team as an undrafted rookie out of Long Beach Senior. He started 40 games and had 11 interceptions for them. Since leaving the 49ers, he has been on three teams in three years.
Joseph told reporters Peterson was full speed on Thursday.
Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson suffered a calf injury in the second half of the team’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Based on his initial reaction during the game, it appeared it might be serious. However, it appears he will not miss any time.
He was officially limited in practice both on Wednesday and Thursday, and defensive coordinator Vance Joseph made a declaration to reporters after practice on Thursday.
“Pat looked fine,” he said. “He was full speed today, so he’ll play on Sunday.”
He also reiterated that fact a second time. “He’s healthy, so he’ll be out there ready to go.”
Peterson has never missed a game in his career because of an injury. The only six games he has ever missed were the six he was suspended this season to start the year.
If Joseph is right, he won’t start missing games this week.
He will have a chance to redeem himself against the 49ers. In his last outing in Week 9, he struggled. Now with a full week of preparation, he should play better.
Our weekly NFL underdog betting staple continues into Week 11, where Ken Pomponio features three teams likely to upset their underdog odds
[jwplayer JLUmLtYE]
NFL Week 10 was wild, a memorable week and a surprise-filled week which featured nine of 13 underdogs covering the mid-week lines.
We weren’t on either of the big underdogs (Atlanta Falcons +11.5 in New Orleans, Miami Dolphins +9.5 in Indianapolis) who not only covered but also won outright, but we did go 3-0 to snap a run of three straight 1-2 weekly finishes and up our season record to 18-12.
Now it’s back to board to find more underdog value, utilizing, as usual, Wednesday’s posted point spreads from BetMGM.com.

Dolphins (+6) vs. Buffalo Bills
Don’t look now, but the Dolphins’ tanking mission is suddenly headed the wrong direction.
Behind the fearless play of veteran quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick and an energized, no-name defense, Miami is 2-0 in November and has covered in five straight outings after a brutal 0-4 against-the-spread start in which the Dolphins were outscored 163-26.
The Bills, meanwhile, have gone 2-2 after a 4-1 start, including a tighter-than-it-looks 31-21 home win over the Dolphins in Week 7.
Keep riding with Fitzpatrick and Co. here as the oddsmakers have been slow to adjust to the new-and-improved Dolphins. They’re playing hard for a first-year coach in Brian Flores, who clearly doesn’t include “tanking” among his best career interests.
Philadelphia Eagles (+3½) vs. New England Patriots
It hasn’t proven to be wise wagering against Bill Belichick, Tom Brady and Co., who are 10-3 in their last 13 games ATS dating back to Week 17 of last season — and coming off the bye in this one.
But the host Eagles are coming off their bye, as well, and they are 4-2 after starting off 1-2.
Philly is sure to be fired up for the teams’ first meeting since Super Bowl LII in Minneapolis, and while the Pats are sure to be focused coming off their first loss followed by the bye, we’ll take a solid team getting a field goal and the always-tempting half-point hook at home.
Arizona Cardinals (+11½) at San Francisco 49ers
If it seems like we just saw this NFC West matchup, it’s because we did, two weeks ago in the desert as the visiting Niners prevailed in a much-tougher-than-expected 28-25 contest on Halloween.
In between, San Fran suffered its first loss, falling to the visiting Seattle Seahawks 27-24 in an overtime duel Monday night that arguably has been the best NFL game this season.
The 49ers also continue to battle the health bug with tight end George Kittle and receiver Emmanuel Sanders likely to be game-time decisions. And quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is battling some obvious shakiness after completing only 24 of 46 passes Monday for 248 yards, a touchdown and an interception, along with two lost fumbles.
Rookie QB Kyle Murray and the Cards, meanwhile, are 3-6-1 straight up but have been one of the league’s best ATS squads at 7-3, including five covers in their last six outings.
We were on Arizona last week in Tampa, and we’ll go with the Cards again here Sunday afternoon in San Fran where the home team is simply giving too many points.

The Cardinals will do their homework on the QB who hasn’t played since 2016.
The Arizona Cardinals believe they have their quarterback of the future in rookie Kyler Murray. That doesn’t mean they won’t look to improve at the position.
Controversial quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who has not played since 2016, has a workout for NFL teams this Saturday, will have at least 11 teams present to see him and speak with him.
According to a communication sent out by the league via social media, the Cardinals will be among those teams confirmed to attend in Atlanta.
The Cardinals are very familiar with Kaepernick, who played his entire career for the San Francisco 49ers.
In 2013 and 2014, he threw for more than 3,000 yards each season and had over 500 rushing yards. He had 40 touchdown passes and 18 interceptions.
His play declined in 2015 and he was benched. He played well in 2016 but the 49ers were 1-10 in his starts. He had 16 touchdown passes and four interceptions.
Kaepernick drew the ire of many when he began to kneel for the national anthem in protest of social issues in the United States, particularly the treatment of Black Americans by the police.
The Cardinals are set at quarterback with Kyler Murray as a starter, but backup Brett Hundley is on only a one-year contract.
Three sit out and two were upgraded to limited on Thursday.

The Arizona Cardinals released their second injury report of the week on Thursday. They had several improvements.
Only three players were unable to practice on Thursday after seven sat out Wednesday.
Did not practice
DL Jonathan Bullard (foot)
RB Chase Edmonds (hamstring)
LB Terrell Suggs (back, hamstring)
Edmonds isn’t expected to play this week. Bullard’s injury is probably what prompted the Cardinals to place Zach Allen on injured reserve and promote Miles Brown. Suggs has practiced minimally this season but has not missed any games so far.
Limited
DL Zach Kerr (knee)
TE Maxx Williams (illness)
CB Tramaine Brock (hamstring)
DL Rodney Gunter (calf)
OL Justin Murray (knee)
CB Patrick Peterson (calf)
Kerr and Williams were upgraded on Thursday. Both sat out on Wednesday, which suggests they should be able to play on Sunday, provided there are no setbacks on Friday. Brock remains day-to-day with his hamstring, as does Peterson with his calf, although defensive coordinator Vance Joseph believes Peterson will be ready to go on Sunday. He has never missed a game because of injury in his career. Murray is also day-to-day.
OL Lamont Gaillard (thumb) and LB Dennis Gardeck (ankle) were full participants Thursday after being limited Wednesday, while WR Larry Fitzgerald and LB Chandler Jones returned fully after days off on Wednesday.
Safety Deionte Thompson (knee) was a full participant for the second day in a row after missing Sunday’s game.
Shelton was originally signed by Arizona after going undrafted in 2017, but was released before the season started. He ended up spending his entire first season on the Bengals practice squad.
He caught on with the Eagles in August but was cut at the end of the preseason, and the 24-year-old has remained a free agent until now.
Shelton will provide the Cardinals with added depth at the cornerback positions, and could sneak onto the team as a special teams contributor as well.
Shelton had a very solid career at Wisconsin, playing with the Badgers from 2013-2016 and racking up 129 total tackles, nine interceptions and 30 passes defended, which ranks sixth in the BIG-10 since 2005.
However, his lack of size (five-foot-nine, 168 pounds) has limited him to precious few opportunities in the NFL. He’ll have to really fight to earn his way onto Arizona’s roster before the season is up.
He had been benched in the second half of the team’s game in Tampa Bay last week.
The Arizona Cardinals released their depth chart for Week 11. There some small changes with recent roster additions. However, nothing changed with running back David Johnson.
Johnson was benched in the team’s 30-27 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after he fumbled in the second half. However, that did not change his status on the team’s depth chart.
He is still listed as a starter at running back. Kenyan Drake, who played more and got more touches than Johnson against the Bucs, is still listed third on the depth chart at running back behind both Johnson and the injured Chase Edmonds.
There were changes, just not to the running back position.
Guard Max Garcia, recently activated from PUP, is the backup right guard, which moves rookie Lamont Gaillard to third string at both center and right guard.
With Zach Allen landing on injured reserve, Jonathan Bullard is now listed as a starter on the defensive line. Michael Dogbe moves up to No. 2 behind him. Recently promoted Miles Brown is listed third at nose tackle.
Cornerback Chris Jones is listed on the depth chart behind both Patrick Peterson and Tramaine Brock.
Pete Robertson replaces Brooks Reed as the backup to Chandler Jones as the SAM linebacker.
He was recently released by the Miami Dolphins after being activated off the physically unable to perform list.
In the last year, Nkemdiche was benched by the Cardinals, then tore his ACL. He had two traffic stops involving the police in the offseason. He showed up to training camp overweight and out of shape, and was subsequently cut by the Cardinals. He was picked up and later released by the Dolphins, one of the league’s least talented teams.
A two-game suspension is often related to personal conduct and sometimes related to alcohol-related behavior. Former Cardinals offensive lineman Bobby Massie had a two-game suspension for a DUI arrest.
It is just another disappointment in a long line of disappointing events for Nkemdiche.
The team made three additions to the practice squad on Wednesday.
The Arizona Cardinals made a pair of roster moves on Wednesday, placing defensive lineman Zach Allen on injured reserve and promoting defensive lineman Miles Brown to the 53-man roster. They also made three practice squad moves as well.
They brought back linebacker Vontarrius Dora and cornerback Sojourn Shelton and also added offensive lineman Ian Silberman. Here is what you should know about them and their time in the league. The info comes from the team’s press release.
Dora spent the offseason and preseason with the team before getting cut with final roster cutdowns. He played in three games with the Cardinals in 2018 and had three tackles and one pass defensed. Dora originally joined the Cardinals practice squad in 2017 after playing in one game as a rookie with Denver in 2016. The 27-year old Dora entered with league with the Broncos as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2016 out of Louisiana Tech.
Shelton signed with the Cardinals as an undrafted rookie out of Wisconsin in 2017. After being released by the Cardinals, he spent his rookie season on the Bengals practice squad. The 24-year old Shelton signed with Philadelphia in August and spent the preseason with the Eagles prior to being released on August 30.
Silberman is new to the Cardinals. He played in two games with the Raiders in 2018 after spending time on the Panthers and Titans practice squads last year. He originally entered the league with San Francisco as a sixth-round selection (190th overall) in the 2015 NFL Draft out of Boston College and played in one game with the 49ers as a rookie. The 27-year old Silberman spent the offseason with Carolina and Indianapolis prior to being released by the Colts.
