Oklahoma up to No. 7 in AP poll

No. 7 Oklahoma (10-1, 7-1) escaped their final home game of the season with a win, hanging on against TCU 28-24.

The Sooners are back in the race.

No. 7 Oklahoma (10-1, 7-1) escaped their final home game of the season with a win, hanging on against TCU 28-24 to clinch their spot against Baylor in the Big 12 title game. Oregon and Penn State weren’t so lucky, as the Sooners vaulted ahead of both following their second losses of the season.

Brendan Radley-Hiles last-minute interception sealed the win, as the Sooners controversially earned a first down on the next drive to slip away with the win.

Previously No. 6, Oregon was downed by unranked Arizona State. the Ducks couldn’t recover after falling down 21-7 in the fourth quarter, eventually losing 31-28, dropping them to No. 13 and out of the playoff race.

In a top-10 matchup, No. 2 Ohio State defeated the ninth-ranked Nittany Lions 28-17, ending their playoff chances and putting them at No. 12.

Texas A&M attempted to mount a comeback over Georgia, but fell short 19-13, dropping them out of the top 25.

Next week, Oklahoma takes on No. 21 Oklahoma State, who beat West Virginia 20-13, in Stillwater in the final game of the regular season.

Baylor, who handled Texas 24-10, will face Kansas before their rematch with the Sooners in the Big 12 Title game.

Georgia football rises, Aggies join Top 25 in latest AP Poll

UGA football rises in the polls, Texas A&M joins the Top 25 of AP Rankings

Following the big win, the Dawgs saw a slight jump in the Sunday polls, moving from 5th to 4th in both the Amway USA TODAY Coaches Poll and the Associated Press Poll.

Georgia was already ranked No. 4 to start the week in the College Football Playoff rankings, but can now officially claim it is ranked higher than Alabama and more.

Below, you will find the complete AP Top 10, with Texas A&M ranked No. 24 heading into Athens.

  1. LSU
  2. Ohio State
  3. Clemson
  4. Georgia
  5. Alabama
  6. Oregon
  7. Utah
  8. Oklahoma
  9. Penn State

AP Poll: Notre Dame Back in Top 15

What it all means is that if Notre Dame wins out they’ll have a realistic chance at finishing the regular season in the top-10

The latest AP Poll is out after Week 12 concluded and Notre Dame moved up in that one as well, just like the Amway Coaches Poll Powered by USA Today, earlier today.

The latest poll is as follows:

Here is the new top 25:

1) LSU

2) Ohio State

3) Clemson

4) Georgia

5) Alabama

6) Oregon

7) Utah

8) Oklahoma

9) Penn State

10) Florida

11) Minnesota

12) Michigan

13) Baylor

14) Wisconsin

15) Notre Dame

16) Auburn

17) Cincinnati

18) Memphis

19) Iowa

20) Boise State

21) SMU

22) Oklahoma State

23) Appalachian State

24) Texas A&M

25) Virginia Tech

Others receiving votes:

Indiana 47, Iowa State 31, Virginia 23, Navy 13, Air Force 12, Pittsburgh 9, San Diego State 7, USC 6, Washington 6, Texas 4, Illinois 1

How high can Notre Dame get by the end of the year? It’ll need help to be in the top-10 but here are a few things to take note of:

Wisconsin and Minnesota still have to play in two weeks, while Baylor has a great chance of meeting Oklahoma in the Big XII Championship which would mean a pair of guaranteed loses ahead of Notre Dame.

It’s also worth noting Penn State and Michigan both have to play Ohio State where the Buckeyes will be favored against both, meaning two more very possible losses for teams Notre Dame is within shouting distance off.

Finally Oregon and Utah meeting in the PAC-12 Championship will mean one more guaranteed loss by one of them.

What it all means is that if Notre Dame wins out they’ll have a realistic chance at finishing the regular season in the top-10 and in turn, have an actual chance at a Cotton or Orange Bowl appearance.

Stay tuned as the Irish continue their quest for a ten-win regular season and possibly a NY-6 bowl as they welcome Boston College to South Bend on Saturday.

Oklahoma jumps to No. 8 in AP Poll after historic comeback

After the largest come-from-behind win in school history, Oklahoma vaulted ahead of Penn State to move to No. 8 in the AP Poll.

After the largest come-from-behind win in school history, Oklahoma (9-1, 6-1 Big 12) vaulted ahead of Penn State to move to No. 8 in the AP Poll.

After one of the worst first halves in recent history, Oklahoma’s College Football Playoff pursuit seemed out-of-sight, until a 25-point comeback sent the Baylor Bears home with their first loss of the season.

The top five all won their respective matches, the closest being No. 4 Georgia’s 21-14 win over Auburn, sending the Tigers to No. 16. The Bulldogs clinched the SEC East with the win.

Minnesota was the only top ten team to lose on Saturday. The now No. 11 Golden Gophers lost 23-19 to Iowa, who moved from No. 20 to No. 19.

Next week, the top-ranked game will be between No. 2 Ohio State and No. 9 Penn State.

Next Saturday, the Sooners will host TCU at 7 p.m. in their final home game of the season. The game will be broadcasted on FOX.
