The Aggie Volleyball team extends their win streak to four after defeating South Carolina in College Station

The Aggie Volleyball team win streak continues as the sweep South Carolina 3-0 for their fourth straight victory

Since falling to Missouri at the beginning of October the Aggie Volleyball team has been on a tear over the past few weeks. Of the 14 sets played they have taken 12 of the 14 sweeping Mississippi State and South Carolina along the way.

First-year head coach Jamie Morrison gave his insight on the game and how his team has grown throughout the season.

“I think it’s interesting because we’ve talked about finding different ways to win, and I thought our block and defense did a really good job in this match in limiting what they were doing. They had to change their game plan a little bit in the third set, but I thought we did a good job of adjusting in the middle of that.”

“I think we’ve been getting better every single match. We just need to make sure we’re playing at the level we’re capable of every night. That’s what great teams do and that’s what we’re working towards.”

After the win on Sunday the Aggies improve their record to 14-4 overall and 6-2 in the SEC. They will be back in action again on Friday, October 20th for a rematch against the No. 14 ranked Florida Gators.

The last time these two teams met, Texas A&M pulled off the upset win in Gainsville over the then ranked No 4. Gators. This will another tough test to see if they can keep their streak going through SEC play.

Congratulations to coach Jamie Morrison and his team to a strong start to the season and hope this is an indication of things to come in the future. Gig’em!

The Aggie Volleyball team gets major upset in SEC match-up over No. 4 Florida

The Aggies rally to defeat the No 4 Florida Gators for their first win over a top five team since over 20 years.

On Wednesday, the Texas A&M (10-3, 2-1 SEC) traveled to Gainsville, Florida, to take on the No. 4 ranked Florida Gators and pulled off a major upset with a 3-2 victory.

This game was for the ages as the teams battled back and forth through five sets at Exactech Arena. Florida jumped out quickly, scoring five unanswered points before the Aggies got on the board, closed the gap, and took a brief 17-16 lead. However, the Gators rallied to take the first set 26-24.

The teams split the next two sets putting the Aggies down 1-2 and putting them in a must-win situation on the road against a top-five team in the nation. That didn’t faze coach Morrison’s team and they came to show the NCAA that Aggie Volleyball comes to fight. Even Texas A&M wideout Evan Stewart enjoyed the action.

After digging in the Maroon & White gave the Gator all they could handle for the next to sets. With the game on the line and the Aggies down 8-5 during the final set they ripped off four straight points to take the lead and never looked back. They took the final set 15-13 for a major upset and moved to 2-1 in SEC play.

Head Coach Jamie Morrison after game:

“I’m so proud of my team and the way they showed up tonight. I thought our team made a conscious choice to be a team that would grind and that’s the thing I’m most proud of.”

The Aggies will be back in action on Sunday when they host the Missouri Tigers at Reed Arena in Bryan-College Station.

Texas A&M Volleyball is off to a strong start under Coach Jamie Morrison

The Aggies close out non-conference play strong and will host Mississippi State Wednesday night.

Texas A&M (8-2,0-0 SEC) swept Liberty (7-4,0-0 CUSA) on Friday to close out non-conference play with a strong finish. The Aggies were dominant from start to finish with 38 kills and 11 blocks.

Coach Morrison speaks on the start of the season leading into league play.

“Overall, I’m really happy with the match and with non-conference as a whole. 8-2 is hard to do and we did it against some good teams. We played some good volleyball throughout, and we need to carry that with us moving forward.”

Get the brooms out as the Aggie Volleyball sweeps Pepperdine at the Omaha Invite

The Aggie Volleyball team move to 2-0 after sweeping Pepperdine in the Omaha invitational

Texas A&M caps off a successful trip to Omaha, Nebraska, with a three-set sweep over Pepperdine. The Aggies wasted no time getting on the board and jumping out to a 25-15 first frame. Then, after a close 25-21 set, they completed the sweep with a 25-15 in the final set, starting the season 2-0.

That was not the only highlight of the weekend. Head Texas A&M volleyball coach Jamie Morrison locked up his first win in his inaugural season with the program with a 3-1 victory in the season opener against Omaha Mavericks.

Morrison gave his thoughts on the sweep and overall performance during the weekend.

“Pepperdine is a really good volleyball team and I’m pleased to get that win. We had another efficient day, hitting .420 percent which is hard to do. I think the things we have been working on the past six months showed today on the court.”

“This invite was a good base to build off. We talk a lot about raising the level of all 14 players in our gym and we saw that this weekend. When we get back, we have two days to address some small corrections, but we’re excited to get back on the road and travel to Bowling Green.”

Aggie Head Volleyball coach leads the Girls U19 team to a gold medal

Texas A&M Head Volleyball coach Jamie Morrison will bring home some gold after leading the Girls U19 team to victory in Croatia

I’m starting to sense a theme here in Aggieland among new coaches. All they do is win on the world stage. Like his counterpart Joni Taylor, Head Texas A&M volleyball coach Jamie Morrison has led a U19 team to a world title.

While it was not an easy task for Team USA as they fought for a hard ten days to make it to the finals against Türkiye, after dropping the first two sets 20-25 and 23-25, they went on a rally to win the next three sets 25-22,25-16 and 15-10 to close out the game-winning 3-2 to take home the gold medal.

Here is what coach Morrison had to say after the big win.

“We thought about the fact that we had nothing to lose,” Morrison said. “We knew that Türkiye have a very nice group, and, on the other hand, we are a very young team. This entire tournament we have been getting better, overcoming difficulties. And if we hadn’t done it, we wouldn’t have made it to the final. These girls are one of a kind. It’s an amazing group of individuals that make a great team. We had six days to train and prepare for the tournament, so we were getting better here on the go, day by day, match by match.”

Congratulations to Jamie Morrison and the Girls U19 team on their championship run, and we hope coach Morrison can bring some of that magic back to College Station.
