WATCH: Draymond Green pays tribute to former MSU teammate Adreian Payne after tragic death

The Michigan State basketball world was shaken earlier this week when the news broke that former Spartans star Adreian Payne was killed.

Former Michigan State teammate Draymond Green has been one of many who have expressed their sadness and grief about the tragic Payne news. Green, however, has gone above and beyond to show his appreciation and love for Payne — which included a tribute he released on his podcast on Tuesday.

El ex basquetbolista estadounidense Adreian Payne falleció la madrugada de este lunes en Orlando Florida, como consecuencia de un tiroteo.

Los reportes locales indican que a la una de la madrugada sucedieron los hechos donde el ex Orlando Magic recibió un disparo que termino con su vida a pesar del esfuerzo de los paramédicos de llevarlo a un hospital de emergencia.

El mundo del basquetbol se conmocionó con la noticia pues el jugador formado en los Michigan State Spartans de 31 años de edad había tenido un paso por la NBA en equipos como Magic, Minnesota Timberwolves, Atlanta Hawks y en el basquetbol de Europa con el Panathinaikos de Grecia, en Francia, Turquía y el basquetbol de China.

La policía informo la detención de Lawrence Dority de 29 años de edad como el responsable de dispararle a Payne al menos en una ocasión y será acusado con los cargos de homicidio.

Draymond Green and his wife Hazel are committing $100,000 to start a fund honoring his late teammate Adreian Payne

Draymond Green made sure to pay tribute to his fallen former teammate and friend Adreian Payne during Monday night’s NBA playoff game, but he and his wife Hazel plan to do much more to honor the life and legacy of Adreian Payne. After the Golden State Warriors win over the Memphis Grizzlies, Green told the media that he and his wife Hazel are committing $100,000 to start a fund in Payne’s honor.

Green also called upon the Michigan State basketball family to contribute.

Adreian Payne was a beloved member of the Michigan State basketball family whose story, particularly his connection with Lacey Holsworth in the 2013-14 season touched many lives in the basketball world. Payne passed away on Monday morning after being shot. He was 31.

Former Michigan State star Adreian Payne dies at age 31

This is a sad day for the Michigan State family.

On early Monday morning in Orlando, Florida, former Michigan State basketball standout Adreian Payne was shot and killed. The police have arrested suspect Lawrence Dority at the scene.

Payne was a beloved member of the Spartan family, and is perhaps best known for his relationship with Lacey Holsworth in 2013-14. Payne is remembered for holding Lacey up to cut down the netws after MSU won the Big Ten Tournament that year, a few weeks before Lacey passed away due to neuroblastoma.
