Michigan State cracks final four for 4-star ATH Dillon Tatum of West Bloomfield

MSU is joined by Michigan, Notre Dame and Baylor, with Wisconsin, Ohio State, Georgia, USC, and Penn State falling out of contention.

Michigan State is one of the finalists to land arguably the state’s top prospect for the class of 2022.

Dillon Tatum, a four-star athlete from West Bloomfield, narrowed down his list of schools he’s considering to four on Sunday and the Spartans made the list. Michigan State is joined by Michigan, Notre Dame and Baylor, with Wisconsin, Ohio State, Georgia, USC, Nebraska and Penn State falling out of contention for this top prospect.

Tatum is listed by 247Sports as the No. 5 prospect in Michigan for the class of 2022, and No. 269 overall in the country. He’s also ranked as the No. 16 athlete (ATH) nationally.

Being in contention for such a highly-touted recruit like Tatum is great to see for the Spartans. However, it may be hard for Michigan State to beat out in-state rivals Michigan for this heralded recruit. Tatum currently is projected to end up in Ann Arbor and his former high school coach — Ron Bellamy — joined the Wolverines’ coaching staff this offseason as an assistant coach. This of course doesn’t guarantee he’ll choose Michigan over Michigan State so still being in consideration is great to see for the Spartans.

Michigan State is looking to add a big skilled athlete to their 2022 class by offering 6-foot-4, 220 pounds tight end Charlie Kenrich of Middletown, Ohio.

Kenrich — who plays for Lakota East High — announced on Twitter on Saturday that he received a scholarship offer from the Spartans. Michigan State joins a handful of MAC schools, Purdue, Virginia Tech, Air Force, Navy, Duke and Vanderbilt to offer Kenrich.

As of right now, Kenrich is listed as a three-star prospect and ranked as the No. 20 overall prospect in Ohio for the class of 2022, according to 247Sports.

Kenrich considers himself an athlete — according to his Twitter account — so it’ll be interesting to see if Michigan State views him as a TE or D-Lineman. It is telling, however, that it was tight ends coach Ted Gilmore who Kenrich mentioned in his tweet on the scholarship.

Check out highlights of Kenrich from his junior season this past fall:

Michigan State Football Offers 2023 CB Deldrick Madison

Michigan State has been very active recently in offering prospects as 2023 CB Deldrick Madison announced he received an offer on Monday.

[jwplayer LOzzVBvn-PROpJzTY]

Michigan State has been very active in recruiting the past few days, between offering numerous prospects and getting even more players from the transfer portal, the Spartans want to build a great team for years to come. It seems like this prospect would go a long way for that to happen. 2023 cornerback prospect Deldrick Madison announced that he received an offer from Michigan State Monday night on Twitter.

Madison, who is 6-foot-0 and weighs 170 pounds, currently has no stars and is unranked by 247sports. He attends Duncanville High School in his hometown of Duncanville, Texas.

He currently has offers from a plethora of highly regarded schools. Among them include: Baylor, Cincinnati, Colorado, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, SMU, Texas and USC.

Madison has a great mix of speed and strength, so it’s no surprise that he has received so many offers so far. Expect him to get much more recognition once the stars and rankings come out, because Madison looks to have a bright future.

Major recruiting services impressed with Notre Dame’s ‘22 class so far

Early on in the 2022 recruiting cycle, the Notre Dame class has impressed some of the national services.

It is just technically a month into the 2022 recruiting cycle but many schools have already been hard at work trying to secure a top class. Notre Dame is one of those, as the Irish have gotten off to a very fast start with seven commits so far.

[listicle id=17189]

Since the page has turned to the 2022’s, some of the major outlets have been looking at who has gotten out of the gates quickly and secured high-level commits.

Over at ESPN, Craig Haubert looked at a group of 10 schools who have had the most success in the class, with the Irish checking in at number 8 (insider). Of the seven committed player, five of them rank inside ESPN’s top 300.

[lawrence-related id=23023]

Haubert is impressed with the early offensive line commits in Joey Tanona and Ty Chan and who they’ll eventually be blocking for in running back Jadarian Price. He also highlighted defensive end Tyson Ford, who Haubert said has a “nice initial burts as well as good agility.”

[lawrence-related id=24679]

They weren’t the only ones giving Brian Kelly and his staff praise for their early recruiting success, 247Sports did as well. Interestingly, they also have the Irish’s class ranked as the 8th best early on. Also, Brian Dohn pretty much singled out the same players, with the exception of Price.

[lawrence-related id=25805]

They like the balance of the commits early on, as the Irish have checked off some early boxes along the offense and defensive lines, running back, defensive back and receiver.

Right now, Notre Dame is in great position to continue to add onto what is a very solid start. The next few months will be very important for the Irish on the recruiting trail, as they look to keep the early momentum going.

BREAKING: 2022 5-star QB Ty Simpson makes his commitment

Five-star quarterback Ty Simpson made his college announcement on Friday. So, did he pick Alabama, Clemson or someone else?

Alabama has been in the hunt for five-star quarterback Ty Simpson. Well, it finally paid off. Simpson committed to Alabama on Friday over Clemson, Tennessee and others.

This is a massive get for Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide.

Simpson is one of the top pro-style quarterbacks in the country, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pounder is rated as a five-star, but he’s also listed as the No. 27 overall player, No. 3 pro-style quarterback and No. 2 player from the state of Tennessee.

Here is what Greg Biggins with 247Sports has to say about Simpson:

“Exciting dual-threat quarterback who’s one of the best in this year’s class extending plays and making something happen outside the pocket. Won’t wow you with his arm strength but it’s functional and he can make all the throws on the field. Natural feel in the pocket. Senses pressure and does a great job in scramble situations. Keeps eyes down the field and can make a big throw downfield or just take off and run for plus yards. Creative in how he gets the ball out. Can throw from different arm angles and is just as dangerous outside the pocket as he is inside of it. Shows poise and toughness. Will stand in and take a shot to get the ball out. Highly intelligent quarterback who should have no problems picking up a college playbook and processes the game extremely fast. Projects as an impact upper-tier Power 5 starter and future mid- to high-round NFL Draft pick.”
