Oklahoma Sooners women’s gymnastics post highest score in the nation

The women’s gymnastics team is on a roll once again as they post the highest score in the nation in back-to-back weeks.

The Oklahoma Sooners boast one of the most dominant teams in the nation regardless of sport. The No. 1 ranked women’s gymnastics team, fresh off their sixth national championship since 2014, is looking for No. 7. They’ve won the last two and are off to a hot start in pursuit of a three-peat.

Last weekend, and for the second week in a row, Oklahoma posted the highest score in the nation to remain the No. 1 team. The Sooners hold an average score of 197.875, more than half a tenth over the next school.

The Sooners are ranked No. 1 on bars (49.538) and beam (49.500). They are also ranked second on vault (49.400) and fourth on floor (49.438). Individually, seven Sooners combined for 14 individual rankings led by Faith Torrez and Jordan Bowers. Torrez is ranked on all four events and the all-around, while Bowers is ranked on a pair of events and in the all-around.

The Sooners will travel to Denver, Colo., for a quad meet against Denver, UCLA and Stanford this upcoming Sunday. The meet is set to begin at 3 p.m. CT before they return home the following Friday, Jan. 26.
