Adam Rank predicts the Bucs’ 2020 record

Adam Rank of NFL.com looks over the Buccaneers’ 2020 schedule and gives his prediction on what their record will be.

The Buccaneers finished 7-9 last season after two-straight 5-11 campaigns, but for a franchise that hasn’t been to the playoffs since 2007, that’s not good enough.

Fortunately, the addition of quarterback Tom Brady and the acquisition of tight end Rob Gronkowski should help add some much-needed championship experience to a roster bursting with talent and ready to take that next step in 2020.

And with Super Bowl LV set to be played at Raymond James Stadium next year in Tampa, it seems like the script is set for Brady to add another distinction to his already-impressive resume by becoming the first quarterback ever to play a Super Bowl in his home stadium.

But the road to Super Bowl LV won’t be an easy one for the Bucs, who will not only have to deal with tough divisional matchups against NFC South foes like the New Orleans Saints, but will have to face quarterbacks like Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes, too.

So, what can we expect from the Bucs this season in terms of their record?

Adam Rank over at NFL.com broke it down for us in his latest video, where he goes through Tampa Bay’s schedule and makes a prediction on how things will shape up in Year 1 of the Brady era. Rank believes things will get off to a bumpy start, with the Bucs starting out just 3-5. The good news? He has them going on a tear the second-half of the season, finishing 7-1 down the stretch.

I don’t think Rank’s logic is completely off. It wouldn’t be surprising if the Bucs and this new offense took some time to gel before hitting their stride. The unconventional offseason that’s resulted from the coronavirus pandemic has made things a little more challenging for veterans switching teams, although Brady has done his best to get in workouts with his new teammates when possible.

Nate Davis of USA TODAY predicts the Bucs’ 2020 record

See how many wins Nate Davis predicts the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will get in 2020, and whether it will be enough to get to the playoffs.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have come a long way since last offseason, when the question surrounding the team was whether or not Jameis Winston would do enough in 2019 to secure a long-term contract from the Bucs.

Well, we all know how that turned out.

With Winston out and future Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady in under center, the new-look Buccaneers have added tight end Rob Gronkowski and several key players from the 2020 NFL draft, including offensive tackle Tristan Wirfs.

For a team that finished 7-9 last year and extended their playoff drought to 12 years, there’s a mountain of expectations for the Bucs now heading into the season.

So, just how many games will they win?

Nate Davis of USA TODAY released his 2020 NFL record projections today, and has the Bucs finishing at 10-6.

Per Davis:

“QB Tom Brady’s arrival has made them the league’s unexpected darlings, ones boasting a franchise-record five games in prime time. Could take time for a new offense – it’s assimilating unretired TE Rob Gronkowski and rookie OT Tristan Wirfs and RB Ke’Shawn Vaughn – to jell. But even in a highly competitive division, the Bucs appear to have ample firepower to end a 12-year playoff drought and make a serious push beyond that.”

By Brady’s standards, 10-6 might be viewed as a disappointment if he was still with the Patriots, but a record like that would be celebrated with the Bucs.

Davis has the Saints winning the NFC South again with a 12-4 record, so Tampa Bay would be a wild card team in this scenario. But Brady knows how to win in the playoffs. All the Bucs have to do is get him there.

Early storylines for all 16 Bucs games to get you excited about the 2020 season

Take a look at some early storylines for each Bucs game on their 2020 schedule.

The NFL released the 2020 schedule last week, with the hope being that teams will be able to complete a full 17-week season despite concerns about the coronavirus pandemic.

But, let’s face it, we could use something to take our minds off everything right now, so let’s go right ahead and take a look at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ full schedule and some early storylines to get you excited about the season.

Buccaneers 2020 schedule officially released

The 2020 schedule for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was officially released Thursday.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ 2020 schedule is officially here, and if the Bucs are going to make a return to the postseason for the first time since 2007, they’ll have to overcome one tough road to get there.

The Bucs will play five games at home this season against quarterbacks who have played in the Super Bowl — Patrick Mahomes (KC), Aaron Rodgers (GB), Drew Brees (NO), Matt Ryan (ATL) and Jared Goff (LAR) — plus take to the road for showdowns with the Raiders and Bears.

Tampa Bay had a brutal schedule last season when they had to play five-straight games away from home, including a London game in Week 6. While there won’t be any international games in the NFL this season, it’ll still be a challenging slate for the Bucs. Fortunately, their quarterback Tom Brady has championship experience they can rely on.
