The first time that the San Antonio Spurs drafted a generational talent under the tenure of iconic Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich, they were only out of the playoffs for a single season. And while it is unfair to compare wunderkind rookie Victor Wembanyama to Tim Duncan, questions are starting to bubble up from the fans of the team as to why the ball club is struggling now that they have Wemby on the roster.
Could it be that Coach Pop is starting to slip? Or is this period of poor play more intentional than not to provide the proper substrate for the skill development of a still very young team?
The hosts of the “Hoopsology” podcast recently sat down to talk with Jeff Garcia of the “Locked on Spurs” podcast about where Popovich is at in terms of his coaching career, whether we should be worried by the play this season, and when Pop might call it quits.
