It was an electric Friday evening at UFCU Disch-Falk Field in Austin.
No. 16 Texas opened the 2024 baseball season against San Diego with a 7-3 win. Although the Longhorns trailed heading into the sixth inning, sophomore shortstop Jalin Flores cranked a go-ahead grand slam in the bottom of the sixth to secure the win.
Flores’ blast sent the college baseball world into a frenzy as the ball landed in Texas’ new Yeti Yard. Fans in the Yeti Yard began jumping up and down and spraying beverages to celebrate the grand slam.
