The Philadelphia 76ers traded up on draft night back in June in order to select Washington product Matisse Thybulle. The move was met with a lot of questions as a lot of people assumed the Sixers would go after a shooter and Thybulle was coming off a season where he shot 30.5% from deep in college.
That has all changed in the NBA as he has really found a groove offensively as he has shot 57.1% from deep over the previous six games entering Sunday’s matchup with the Toronto Raptors and he then made 5-for-7 from deep in a 110-104 win over the defending champions.
“Matisse is great,” said Tobias Harris. “He came in and his energy was amazing, he was able to knock down big shots, big threes that really pushed our lead every each and every time they tried to make a run. He was amazing out there. He’s an amazing player, amazing person, amazing rookie. Every night I’m on him to continue to progress and continue to stay ready and locked in. He’s really catching his stride now.”

The Sixers rookie continues to take big steps forward and despite a disastrous couple of minutes that included plenty of mistakes and teachable moments, he was a key reason for why the Sixers were able to win this one.
“I was telling him, don’t let the last minute and 30 seconds kill your vibe in the game because you helped us secure that win tonight,” Harris added.
If he can continue to progress at such a high level, the Sixers will be able to really make big strides forward. He’s such a gifted athlete and he continues to get better every game.
