Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid has played terrific basketball to begin the 2023-24 season. As the reigning league MVP, Embiid is averaging 32.1 points, 11.3 rebounds, and a career-high 6.3 assists. He has taken another step forward as a playmaker and has stepped up as a leader for this group.
The big fella made history in Saturday’s 127-123 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder on the road. Embiid scored 35 points and joined franchise icons Allen Iverson and Billy Cunningham as the only players in franchise history to begin their seasons with at least 15 consecutive games of scoring 20-plus points. The Sixers are now 11-5 to begin the new season under coach Nick Nurse.

Embiid and the Sixers are still continuing to grow and develop under the guidance of Nurse as they get set to play host to the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday. Philadelphia is in a stretch where it plays four of five games on the road facing a bit of adversity at the moment.
