Sixers president Daryl Morey fined $50K for violating tampering rules

Philadelphia 76ers president Daryl Morey has been fined $50,000 for violating the league’s anti-tampering rules.

The Philadelphia 76ers are in the midst of beginning the 2020-21 season under new coach Doc Rivers and a lot of new pieces surrounding stars Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid. However, they are also involved in a lot of trade rumors involving Houston Rockets superstar James Harden.

Harden, of course, has experience with new Sixers president Daryl Morey who has a reputation for making bold moves in the trade market. He made plenty of big moves while he was with the Rockets and there is an obvious connection between Harden and Morey.

Amidst all the trade rumors, Morey made a social media post about Harden on Dec. 20 which the league determined was tampering which violates their rule. Morey has since deleted the post, but on Monday, the league announced that he would be fined $50,000.

The Sixers have repeatedly said they will not trade Simmons or Embiid in order to acquire Harden, but instances like this one will feed the dreams of fans who would love to have the 2018 MVP in Philadelphia.
