Sixers guard Shake Milton will be out a while as opening night approaches

Philadelphia 76ers guard Shake Milton will be out for a while as the team gets ready for opening night.

The Philadelphia 76ers are getting set to take on the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday to open up the 2021-22 season and they have some issues to still address as the night continues to approach.

The biggest issue is obviously the Ben Simmons situation, but the team is dealing with a lot of injuries at the moment.

There are injuries to key players such as Tobias Harris, Matisse Thybulle, and Shake Milton combined with the uncertainty of Simmons even playing in games. That type of situation can put stress on any coach moving forward.

While Harris and Thybulle are on track to play in the opener, Milton is going to be out for the foreseeable future. The young guard has been missing time due to a right ankle sprain and that injury is going to hold him out for a bit.

“I don’t know what his status is,” said coach Doc Rivers. “I know he’s out. Shake is nowhere near playing yet. He’ll be out for a while.”

With Milton being out, that means guys like Tyrese Maxey and Isaiah Joe now have a big opportunity to step up and make an impact on this team. Philadelphia will need them to have to step in and provide production in a challenging situation at the moment.
