SEC Tournament: Alabama Lands Top Seed

The Alabama Crimson Tide lands the top seed of the SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament. What’s the path to a title?

A season filled with record-breaking performances is being rewarded, as the No. 5 Alabama Crimson (21-6, 16-2 SEC) Tide lands the top seed in the SEC Basketball Tournament, beginning this week at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn.

The Crimson Tide secured the Southeastern Conference regular-season title on Feb. 27 at Mississippi State, defeating the Bulldogs, 64-59 in Starkville. Alabama continued to play well in the final week of conference play. By defeating Auburn 70-58 on Tuesday, and capping the regular season with a win at Georgia, 89-79 on Saturday, Alabama secured the no. 1 seed in the SEC Tournament.

The Crimson Tide has a few days to prepare for their opening game, as they have earned a double-bye and will be playing their first game in Nashville on Friday at 11 a.m. CT., awaiting the winner of the No. 8 Mississippi State vs. No. 9 Kentucky matchup that will be played on Thursday morning at 11 a.m. CT.

Alabama’s toughest matchup would be against the No. 2 seed Arkansas Razorbacks, who have won 8-straight games, including an 81-66 win over the Crimson Tide on February 24. If the meeting were to happen, it would take place on championship Sunday at 12 p.m. CT.

The Crimson Tide opens their stay at the SEC Tournament on Friday at 11 a.m. CT. Their opponent is to be announced.
