The Seattle Seahawks are struggling offensively, and have been for the better part of two months. When offenses struggle in the NFL, the fingers start to point at the quarterback first and foremost.
While I would argue Geno Smith is hardly the biggest problem with this offense, he has certainly become a contributing factor. Especially when it comes to holding onto the ball. Far too often drives have stalled or ended thanks to Smith not throwing the ball away. Either by dumping it off, or simply throwing it to avoid a killer sack.
The Seahawks quarterback directly acknowledged this issue with the media.
Geno Smith says, yes, he’s been holding onto the ball too long, “seeing his receivers open” too much instead of trusting the route and throwing to the route spot before his #Seahawks receiver is open.

The road ahead does not get easier for Smith. On Thursday, he will have to face a vicious pass rush from the Dallas Cowboys. Leading the charge is linebacker Micah Parsons, who already has 11.5 sacks on the year.
If Smith is holding on to the ball too long on Thursday, it will certainly be disastrous against Dallas.
