One of the most interesting players who might find themselves on the trade block this coming season is Titans quarterback Malik Willis. While he was supposed to be the most-exciting QB in last year’s draft class, Willis struggled in three starts last season. Tennessee has since used an early draft pick on Will Levis from Kentucky, raising questions about a potential trade for Willis.
Chris Trapasso at CBS Sports has named the Seahawks as one of the five best potential trade destinations for the young QB.
“No one is tantalized more by a possible quarterback reclamation project than gum-chomping head coach Pete Carroll in Seattle… Like Smith, Willis’ ability to spin the football will never be questioned. He can really rip it and has more electricity in his legs… Willis needs an offense like Seattle’s. Waldron, a young but surprisingly stout offensive front, and DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett plus a pair of compact, bouncy running backs could provide Willis a comfortable environment to start the next chapter of his NFL career. “
It would be undeniably interesting to see Willis running Shane Waldron’s offense. However, it’s difficult to envision head coach Pete Carroll signing on for a QB with a skillset that’s so similar to Russell Wilson’s.
Then again, if backup Drew Lock bombs during the preseason as he did in last year’s start against Dallas, it might make this front office think twice about just how deep they are at quarterback. Consider this one to be continued.
