Russell Wilson could pass Peyton Manning in several first-decade milestones in 2021

These are all very-much attainable goals based on No. 3’s history.

Peyton Manning was rightfully inducted into Pro Football Hall of Fame earlier this year. Arguably the greatest passer in the league over the last 20 years, Manning will go down in history as one of the best of this generation.

This may come as a surprise to those outside Seattle, but in many ways, Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson is catching up with Peyton’s legacy. While he hasn’t won an MVP award yet and his last ring came back in 2013, Wilson’s career arc is still on a legendary trajectory. That’s because as an individual performer he has been about as good as any QB in football over the last decade.

For example, this season Wilson has a chance to surpass Manning in a major all-time NFL milestone for quarterbacks. With just eight more wins, Wilson will reach 106 victories in his career – that would be one more than Manning and the most by any QB in their first 10 years in the league. His first-decade passing numbers also aren’t far off.

These are all very-much attainable goals based on No. 3’s history.

Every season since he was drafted, Wilson has won at least nine games as a starter and posted 3,118 passing yards and 20 touchdowns at a minimum. He’s become more productive with time, too. Seattle has won at least 10 games the last three years while Wilson has averaged over 35 touchdowns and 3923 passing yards per season. He’s also thrown in another 1,231 yards and five touchdowns as a rusher.

There’s still a long way to go on the journey and he might have to win at least one MVP, but Wilson appears well on his way to joining Manning in Canton.
