Robert Saleh says Jets need to win more before he cashes in receipts

Robert Saleh isn’t cashing in those receipts quite yet

Jets head coach Robert Saleh certainly made headlines early last week when he said he was “keeping receipts” on those mocking the team. He later said he was caught in an emotional moment.

In their first game since those comments, the Jets answered the call and began the road to cashing in those receipts, overcoming a 13-point deficit with just 1:55 left in the game to shock the Browns, 31-30, to move to 1-1 on the season. But one win isn’t enough for Saleh to make good on his promise.

“We’ve got to win a hell of a lot more than this one to cash in those,” Saleh told the media after the game.

One win certainly isn’t enough, but it’s a much better position to be in, sitting at 1-1. Had the Jets lost this game, especially if the game got ugly again, then questions really would have started rising and the mocking would have only gotten worse.

The Jets answered the call this week and now look ready to be competitive and potentially make some noise the rest of the way. They have a huge opportunity at home next week to move to 2-1 and put the defending AFC champion Bengals in an early 0-3 hole. If they can, Saleh’s pile ready to cash in will only get bigger.
