Rick Barnes recaps Tennessee’s loss at LSU

Tennessee lost to LSU, 78-65, Saturday in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

On how to deal with the inconsistencies:
“That is one of the hardest things in coaching. You try to play the game as many different ways as you can, knowing that you’ll have to be ready to make some kind of adjustments. That might be as bad of a feeling as a coach is just that, ‘What are we going to get today?’ When you don’t know, that’s the hard part. It really is. If you go back to the stats, Yves had four rebounds, Josiah had six, Jaden had six, Santiago had three, Keon had three, and Fulky had five. I would love to see Yves Pones and John Fulkerson have eight-to-nine rebounds. The guards come down to get them and that’s great too, I like to see that. Yves is 1-of-5 and Fulky 2-of-5. I can tell you this, in our offense if they want the ball in scoring areas, there is ways they can do it. But they have to want to do it. I will say, I thought there were a couple times today that I thought we should’ve put the ball in there and we didn’t. So, it goes back to this, it’s a combination of everybody totally understanding. Early in the game, we were just standing around. I don’t know what we were doing. It’s almost like we got lulled into what they were doing. They were perfectly fine letting us shoot all the threes we wanted. Which is fine with me. If we get wide-open looks, especially if it goes inside-out, we’re going to take them. If it ends up being 40 and they’re good shots, we don’t have a problem with it. But that’s one of the worst feelings as a coach, especially this time of year, is just that. Guys can have some tough games, but it’s not guys just having tough games, we are still searching for that consistency from some key guys.”
