What happens if the NFL schedule meets the U.S. Open or the Masters? Richard Deitsch of The Athletic says it could force sworn network enemies to work together.
In a clip from this week’s Forward Press podcast with host David Dusek, the pair discuss what might happen once the fall schedules of college and NFL football meet up with the power-packed and revamped schedule golf has put together.
“They’re going to have to ask the NFL for help here in scheduling, understanding that they’re in these very unique circumstances where they’re going to have a major golf event that’s running up against the NFL,” Deitsch said.

Deitsch said that multiple groups might need to sit together to put a schedule together that works for everyone.
“So, it’s two rights holder properties that are massively important to both companies and so what you would probably end up doing if you’re Fox and CBS as you were talking to the NFL, and quite frankly perhaps even talk to one of your competitors, to see if you know if some schedule alleviation can happen where maybe you do some horse-trading,” he said.
