Report: Zach LaVine expected to resign with Chicago Bulls

Sources say the two-time All-Star is staying in the Windy City.

Despite all the rumors and speculation going into Zach LaVine’s pending unrestricted free agency, it looks like he may be staying put.

Reported by Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer, once the free agency negotiation period begins on June 30, sources around the league expect LaVine to resign with the Bulls.

Fischer writes:

LaVine’s free agency has generated plenty of conversation among NBA personnel over the past few weeks. But despite rumblings that the Portland Trail Blazers, San Antonio Spurs, Atlanta Hawks and Los Angeles Lakers will make plays for LaVine, the coveted swingman is likely to remain with his current team.

Fischer added that the finishing touches to LaVine returning to Chicago would be ‘centered on the fifth year of the contract,’ which the two-time All-Star is eliginle for a five-year deal worth roughly $200 million.

NBA Insider Marc Stein recently said on a Spotify Live that teams around the league felt LaVine was ‘in play’ this offseason but the situation certainly remains fluid and in Chicago’s favor if they’re offering that fifth year.
