Report: Washington hasn’t contacted former Redskins CB Bashaud Breeland in free agency

On paper, it seems to make sense for the Redskins to bring back CB Bashaud Breeland, but they reportedly haven’t contacted him.

The Washington Redskins once again have a major hole to fill on the defense after cornerback Quinton Dunbar was traded to the Seattle Seahawks on Monday.

Who they choose to fill that hole is up for debate.

Many believe that the most obvious name to come to Washington is Kansas City Chiefs CB Bashaud Breeland, who played for the Redskins for years before leaving for KC in free agency. Breeland is once again a free agent and has a chance to team up with Kendall Fuller in Washington, whom he just won a Super Bowl with in 2020.

However, it appears that the Redskins haven’t had any contact with Breeland, according to ESPN’s John Keim. That isn’t to say that he should be completely ignored as a future option, but it isn’t a strong one at the moment.

Instead, Redskins fans can start looking to players like Logan Ryan, Prince Amukamara,  or Xavier Rhodes, though their prices may be a bit high to start.
