Report: Texans trading with Buccaneers for guard Shaq Mason

The Houston Texans are trading with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for guard Shaq Mason, who also used to play for the New England Patriots.

The Houston Texans are acquiring another former New England Patriots player.

According to Aaron Wilson from KPRC-TV, the Texans are working out a trade with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to obtain guard Shaq Mason.

Mason was a former Patriots 2015 fifth-round pick, and Texans general manager Nick Caserio was New England’s director of player personnel from 2008-20.

With the Buccaneers, Mason started all 17 games as Tampa Bay managed to win the NFC South with an 8-9 record in what was Tom Brady’s swan song.

Prior to joining the Patriots, Mason started in 98 of his 103 games active from 2015-21, winning two Super Bowls at the end of the 2016 and 2018 campaigns.

The terms to acquire Mason are reportedly a Texans sixth-round pick for the guard and also the Buccaneers’ seventh-round selection.
