The Indianapolis Colts reportedly remain the preferred trade destination for Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield, per Jeff Howe of The Athletic.
Mayfield’s interest in the Colts was reported earlier this week but that was before he officially requested a trade from the Browns. It was also reported before the massive news that the Browns would be sending a boat-load of picks to the Houston Texans in exchange for quarterback Deshaun Watson.
But as it stands, Mayfield has officially requested the Colts to be his landing spot.
Baker Mayfield has informed the Browns that he'd prefer to be traded to the Colts, per sources. Earlier this week, prior to Mayfield's trade request, the Browns said they'd work with him on a trade. We'll see if they'll accommodate such a move to the AFC, though. @TheAthletic

Whether the Colts reciprocate that interest remains to be seen. The Irsay family has a close relationship with Browns general manager Andrew Berry, but it isn’t clear if that will be enough to make the Colts interested.
Mayfield hasn’t lived up to the billing of being a No. 1 overall pick since entering the league in 2018. He has never finished higher than 14th in DVOA among quarterbacks and that was back during his rookie season.
The Colts are searching for their long-term answer at quarterback, which means they have to consider all options. Whether Mayfield will generate interest from the Colts will be the storyline to watch.
