Quarterback Mitch Trubisky helps lead Steelers to Week 1 win

Former North Carolina quarterback Mitch Trubisky leads Pittsburgh Steelers to a 23-20 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.

Former North Carolina Tar Heel quarterback [autotag]Mitch Trubisky[/autotag] is back starting in the NFL and tossing a touchdown in the process.

The second overall pick in the 2017 draft, Trubsiky has had his ups and downs in his short career so far. After spending his first four seasons in Chicago, Trubisky took the backup role in Buffalo before finding a home in Pittsburgh.

Now, as a Steeler, Trubsiky was able to land the starting job over 2022 first-round draft pick Kenny Pickett and three-year quarterback Mason Rudolph.

The Steelers took on the Cincinnati Bengals in their season opener, and Trubsiky got the job done. In his debut for Pittsburgh, he finished with 21 out of 38 pass completions, 194 passing yards, and one touchdown.

His touchdown pass came in the second quarter to running back Najee Harris, giving the Steelers a 17-3 lead. The Bengals did attempt a comeback, but Trubisky’s no turnover day didn’t provide Cincinnati anything to capitalize on, giving Pittsburgh the 23-20 nail-biting win.

The win continues Trubsiky winning ways as he is fifth in win percentage among active quarterbacks dating back to the 2018 season.
