Chris Silva became emotional after a surprise visit from his mom

Heat two-way rookie Chris Silva had an incredible reaction to seeing his mother for the first time in three years.

Miami Heat forward Chris Silva hadn’t seen his mother in three years so, understandably, when she paid him a surprise visit, the two-way rookie instantly became emotional upon seeing her.

Silva, a native of Gabon, moved to the United States in 2012 when he was 16 years old. Shortly after arriving, Silva began playing basketball and eventually attended the University of South Carolina. Silva had only seen his mother once since moving to the U.S.

With the help of NBA commissioner Adam Silver and senior vice president of international basketball operations Kimberly Bohuny, the visit by his mother was made possible as she traveled 6,300 miles to Miami.

Silva did not play on Friday as the Heat defeated the Indiana Pacers but his mother did attend the game. The moment certainly made for an incredible reaction on social media as Silva said afterward he had no idea she would be visiting him.

The Heat return to action on Saturday night against the Philadelphia 76ers.
