ANN ARBOR, Mich. — It certainly didn’t match the intensity of how the past two seasons ended, but it wasn’t supposed to.
Michigan football held its annual spring game at The Big House on Saturday, amid falling temperatures and gusty winds. The Mike Hart-coached maize team secured a come-from-behind victory to beat Jay Harbaugh’s blue team, 22-21, with wide receiver Peyton O’Leary grabbing the spotlight early and often. Despite the blue team’s loss, early enrollee freshman running back Benjamin Hall was the other player who stole the show. He ran with vision and power despite being a lower-rated three-star coming out of high school.
The defense on both sides shined, keeping the offenses at bay, though J.J. McCarthy had his moments, as did Jack Tuttle and Davis Warren. However, turnovers were a costly issue for either squad.
Wolverines Wire’s Isaiah Hole was on the sideline to capture the action. Here are some of his favorite shots from the 2023 version of the annual scrimmage.
