Penn State makes top 10 for four-star cornerback in 2024

Penn State finds itself in a heated top 10 competition for this four-star Class of 2024 cornerback from Philly

Penn State may be preparing for the 2022 season and putting the finishing touches on its Class of 2023, but the recruiting staff is sure to be happy with an announcement from a coveted in-state prospect in the Class of 2024. Omillio Agard, from Philadelphia, revealed his top 10 schools on Monday. Among those in the running was Penn State, and the competition appears to be as stiff as it can be.

Agard shared his top 10 schools with a graphic and announcement on his Twitter account on Monday afternoon. In addition to Penn State, Agard’s top 10 included Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas A&M.

Agard is a four-star cornerback for St. Joseph’s Prep in Philadelphia. According to the 247Sports recruiting rankings, Agard ranks No. 75 overall nationally (No. 138 nationally on the 247Sports composite rankings), No. 7 cornerback in the nation (No. 14), and is the No. 2 recruit in the state of Pennsylvania (No. 3 on the composite ranking). Naturally, he is considered a big target for Penn State to try and keep close to home.

Agard attended a pair of football camps at Alabama and Clemson in early June back-to-back. Each camp visit netted a scholarship offer from the schools now in his top 10. He has also reportedly visited Tennessee, Notre Dame, and Michigan this summer.

Penn State extended an offer to Agard back in February 2021 as one of the first offers on the table. He has since then made a pair of unofficial visits to Penn State’s campus with one in June 2021 and another last September for Penn State’s home game against Auburn. According to Ryan Snyder of On3, Agard spent a day with Penn State head coach James Franklin in May.

While it is still anybody’s guess just where Agard will end up, the On3 recruiting prediction machine calculates Penn State as the early favorite with a 35.9% chance of securing a verbal commitment from Agard.
