Packers QB Jordan Love in day-by-day mode but hopeful to play vs. Titans

Jordan Love practiced Wednesday, and he said his knee is feeling much better. He’s taking it day by day and is hopeful to play Sunday vs. the Titans.

Green Bay Packers coach Matt LaFleur wouldn’t provide more detail than simply stating his quarterback was “limited” during Wednesday’s practice. Jordan Love wouldn’t go further than saying he is “day to day” as he works his way back from an MCL injury.

But there is hope that Love — who injured his knee in the season opener 12 days ago — can return to play Sunday against the Tennessee Titans.

“I’m going to take the week, just take it day by day, see how it feels,” Love said after returning to practice Wednesday. “I’m not going to make any decision on that now, I’m hopeful that I can get in there but we’re going to take it day by day and see.”

Love said his knee is feeling “a lot better” after rehabbing for the last week and a half. He still has several boxes to check before he can be cleared to play, but practicing — and testing the knee in football movements and under some live fire — is a big step. Making sure he’s confident in protecting himself is another. The Packers are monitoring the knee to make sure it is healing properly while Love ramps up his on-field activity.

Love said the injury in Brazil was the “most pain” he’s ever experienced on a football field. Late in the fourth quarter, Love got hit in the side of his left knee while attempting to escape pressure, creating the ligament injury.

During Wednesday’s practice, Love was seen wearing a sleeve and a brace to protect and stabilize his left knee. He said the brace — which he started wearing last week — may affect his mobility in and out of the pocket.

The Packers go to Nashville to play the winless Titans on Sunday. The team will practice again Thursday and Friday, providing injury report updates each day, and then go to Tennessee on Saturday. Malik Willis would start again if Love isn’t cleared by Sunday.
