Oregon fans, players are so excited after new head coach Dan Lanning winning championship at Georgia

Oregon fans got to see how good Georgia’s defense looked when coached by Dan Lanning.

Before taking over as head coach for the Oregon Ducks, Dan Lanning had one job to do: Win a national championship for the Georgia Bulldogs.

Lanning, who began his time as the defensive coordinator for Georgia in 2019 and will take over for Mario Cristobal as Oregon’s head coach next season, was able to accomplish exactly that win a win over the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Georgia’s defense looked especially strong during the entirety of the College Football Playoff. They held Michigan to just 11 points in the semifinals, then intercepted Alabama’s Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young two times in the National Championship Game.

But the next time that Lanning will see many of the players, they will be on the opposite end of the field. Oregon’s first game with Lanning as head coach is in Atlanta against Georgia on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2022.

Until then, however, many Oregon fans and players were excited to celebrate Georgia’s huge win over Alabama. Here is what some of them tweeted after the game:
