- Jumped onto the ’64 scene with a shocking, 31-7 win over Wisconsin at Camp Randall.
- Started season 9-0 with only the November 7 contest at Pitt (17-15 win) being played within 19 points.
- John Huarte won the sixth Heisman Trophy in program history, throwing for 2062 yards and 16 touchdowns.
- Jack Snow had a huge season pulling in 1114 receiving yards and nine scores.
- Notre Dame led 17-0 at halftime against USC before surrendering 20 straight points and Trojans, costing the Irish a national championship.
