Notre Dame Football: Ten Best Jump Ball Catches Ever

Notre Dame has been playing football a very long time and have had some incredible jump ball catches for touchdowns. See the top ten here!

My thoughts on the top ten list that you just watched:

  • Fun couple of minutes but how many of these were because of a defensive back completely stumbling all over themselves?  Adrian Jarrell’s was because of complete stone hands by the defender, Jim Seymour’s was on a very poor play by the safety on an underthrown ball, Chris Finke’s against Michigan was great but took a Wolverines defender who was apparent playing in quick sand and Derrick Mayes against Florida State was impressive but largely because of a Samari Rolle misplay.
  • Rhema McKnight’s catch and ability to get his foot down at Michigan State in 2006 deserves to be higher.  That play was incredible.
  • I’ve never watched the 1986 Notre Dame vs. USC game that was a thrilling comeback win for the Irish but Milt Jacobs and his great catch is yet another reason why I need to find a copy of that classic.
  • I had entirely forgotten about Golden Tate’s grab in 2009 against Washington State.  Likely because that was Halloween night in a blowout game but how he comes down with that ball is beyond me.  That was certainly defender error but Tate deserves props for making a play on the ball literally as well as one possibly could.
  • I would have bet the farm going in that we’d see Michael Floyd on the list for at least one of his touchdown grabs and am fairly stunned we didn’t.
