There has been plenty of positive news for Notre Dame football recently, but the Irish received some bad news on Friday.
According to a report by On3’s Jack Soble, two defensive lineman, [autotag]Aiden Gobaira[/autotag] and [autotag]Tyson Ford[/autotag], have been placed on medical scholarship, which means their football careers in South Bend have ended.
Gobaira, a sophomore from Virginia, didn’t see the field much and never registered a stat. Ford also received minimal playing time, though he was credited with a tackle in the blowout win over Tennessee State this past fall.
Each came into the program with high expectations. Both were ranked as four-star prospects out of high school on the 247Sports composite.

It’s unfortunate these players couldn’t live out their dreams of playing in the Blue and Gold, but at least they’ll move on from the game with a fantastic degree.
