No Giants named to Pro Bowl for first time since 1996

For the first time since 1996, the New York Giants will go unrepresented at the Pro Bowl.

The New York Giants are a bad football team here in 2019, but just how bad are they?

Well, that was put into context on Tuesday night as the 2019-2020 Pro Bowl rosters were announced and the Giants were one of just two teams (Miami Dolphins) who did not have a single representative.

Furthermore, it is the first time since 1996 that the Giants will not be represented in the NFL’s annual All-Star game.

We here at Giants Wire broke down a list of Giants who should be considered on Tuesday morning and of that group, only punter Riley Dixon drew a nod. He has been named a second alternate.

Additionally, running back Saquon Barkley, who did not make our list despite his league-wide popularity, has also been named a fourth alternate.

Both Dixon and Barkley could earn a spot on the team if several players ahead of them drop out of the Pro Bowl due to injury or success (ie. reaching the Super Bowl), but at least in the case of Barkley, that seems unlikely.

It’s also worth noting that not one Giants player finished inside the top 10 in fan voting at any position — a real sign of how far this franchise has fallen.
