NFC West Watch: 3 big candidates interviewing for Cardinals head coach job

They have some big names lined up to interview this week.

After a 4-14 season, the Arizona Cardinals hit the reset button for their front office at the end of the season. General manager Steve Keim stepped down and has been replaced by Monti Ossenfort. Head coach Kliff Kingsbury has also been fired and the team is now in the midst of the search to replace him – and they have some big names lined up to interview this week.

According to a report by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, former Dolphins coach Brian Flores interviewed with Arizona yesterday.

Flores is still suing six teams – including the Cardinals – over allegations of racial discrimination as part of a “fake interview process” the last time he made the head coach rounds.

Additionally, Sean Payton is expected to meet with Arizona on Thursday.

With Jim Harbaugh deciding to stay at Michigan, Payton is the hottest candidate on the coaching market. He is also in the mix for the Broncos’ head coach job.

There’s at least one other high-profile candidate, as well. Tom Pelissero at NFL Network reports Dan Quinn is flying in tonight for a second interview.

Quinn is the defensive coordinator for the Cowboys, who ranked second in defensive DVOA this season. He was previously the head coach of the Falcons after serving under Seahawks coach Pete Carroll as his defensive coordinator during the peak Legion of Boom years (2013-2014).
