Former Brazilian MMA promotion Xtreme Fighting Championships (XFC) is now under US ownership, and the new bosses have wasted no time in finding a big broadcast platform for their organization.
Plans are underway to relaunch the promotion and a press release from the promotion announced Tuesday that XFC had struck a deal with NBC Sports to broadcast its events live in the United States.
NBCSN will air the first event of the deal, XFC 43, on Veterans’ Day, Nov. 11, with the final two hours of the card set to be shown live from 9 p.m. ET.
XFC events are set to be split into three separate series: “Young Guns” (for up-and-coming talent), “Tournament Series” (bracket-format competition culminating in the crowning of a champion), and “Super Fights” (matchups featuring their biggest-name talent).
“NBC Sports is the gold standard in sports television, with an unmatched history presenting the most prestigious competitions in the world,” said XFC president Myron Molotky. “The team at NBC Sports impressed us with their experience, their understanding of our vision, and their commitment to excellence. We are thrilled to join them as partners and to give our fighters an opportunity to shine in front of this powerful audience.”
Meanwhile, the promotion, which has launched the careers of UFC welterweight Michel Pereira and PFL lightweight champion Natan Schulte, is looking to attract up-and-coming talent via its try-out series, with its first try-out event taking place on Sept. 12.
