If there’s anyone who can speak to the capabilities of new Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Dave Canales, it’s Geno Smith.
Canales has spent his entire 13-year career up to this point with the Seattle Seahawks, most recently as their quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator over the last four seasons.
That means Canales presided over Smith’s resurgence in 2022, a stellar season that earned the longtime veteran journeyman NFL Comeback Player of the Year honors.
As news of Canales’ departure from Seattle came down, Smith himself weighed in with a vote of confidence for his coach as he heads to Tampa Bay:
@DcoachCanales well deserved!! https://t.co/wXmj0Q9eR5

Bucs fans will be hoping that whoever ends up starting at quarterback in Tampa Bay next season, Canales can have similar success to what Smith enjoyed this past season.
